Fly mask for bug eyed warmblood ;)

She’s got a wide forehead and big bug eyes  She may be part lizard!
I tried a draft size in the cashel but it was way too big. Trying the wb size next. The horse size pushed against her eyelashes if not perfectly centered. Our face flies are horrible right now.

Any suggestions for the bug eyed horse?

The Kennsingtons work for mine. They also stand up to abuse rubbing and so forth.

I was also going to mention Kensington. Their bug eyes are not in the right place for some horses, so measure your horse between the eyes and call their customer service. They were too widely spaced for my sturdy qh.

Cloudy prefers that I call his eyes “protruding.”
The warmblood requires either the cashel, which is about 90% effective or better, the Rambo, which stands out from the eyes and gets my approval rating of 100% effective.
In addition to the protruding eyes and convex head (although it is the same size as a TB;s, it looks so different), Cloudy has long eye lashes which get caught in other fly masks.

So spring for the Rambo with the stand-away-from-the-eyes-and-lashes feature, Dover and other stores have them, or the Cashel. I prefer the Rambo since it stays way off of those long white lashes. He’ll still rub it off, LOL.

Check out the new Equivizor fly masks

They are “hard domed” over the eyes so allow a ton of room in the eye area, plus cannot collapse onto the eyes as other fly masks do

Its a really brilliant design and because of the hard dome construction, it it rains, it deflects all water off the forehead and eye area …

That’s a cool design! Are there measurements?

I see it also comes in foal size. How common is that? Not sure my baby would go for it

The Equivizors fit true to size. The X Full fits my Clyde/Hackney/TB cross mare who has a true Draft size head - its enormous - and she takes a Draft sized bridle
The Full fits all my TB’s, and my finer WB’s and my yearling WB/TB cross filly is in a Cob size

The UV protection on the upper part of the Equivizor is 100% and the remainder of the mask is about 75-80% due to any wear in that area if they rub it on posts, etc - it is the same as any other fly mask - what UV protection it offers as new will deteriorate with use depending on how hard they are on it

All of my foals start wearing fly masks at about 2-4 days of age. They get used to them early and Ive never had an issue with them - ever - wearing them. They also all wear the fly masks with ears - Im sure the little gnatty flies bug their ears as much as anyone else

I think its all what you get them used to early on. They are leading by 2-3 days old (well - “dragging/carrying with a butt rope” might be a better way of describing it in the early days!", I will spray them with water in a bottle to get them used to being fly sprayed in the first few days, their feet are handled and picked up and a halter / fly mask on and off are all part of their daily routine

My mare wears a Horse Mask. They offer stock sizes, but will make also make them to fit. My mare needed a narrower top and longer jowl. I called in the measurements and a few days later, had a perfectly fitting mask. No extra charge.
