Fly mask with ears that won't rub out forelock

Any suggestions? Tried one with a hole for forelock and it still rubbed it. Maybe better to not have a forelock hole? The Rambo one that lifts away from the eyes looks like a possibility???

My horse has a long forelock, and I’ve never noticed any rubbing. I usually get a Farnam Supermask or Cashel, just the basic one no ears or forelock hole.

Spray forelock or mask w silicone so the hair slides rather than catches?

I am a huge fan of the Rambo with the wire rim or equivisor. No forelock issues with either

Ditto. My Rambo’s wire support arch has started to back out one end, though. About 1/2 inch is showing. I snip it and more backs out. And of course I’m sure it’ll poke someone’s eye out — my own before a horse’s, please and thank you, but I’d prefer that all involved retain their eyes.

Gotta stitch or hot-glue* or whatever that end closed.

  • Though that might melt any nylon. Blimey. My fabulous life.

I have the Rambo mask that lifts away from the eyes but by the end of the season his forelock is destroyed. I am going to try Cowboy Magic on the forelock but was also wondering about braiding the forelock?

The SmartPak spandex ones are great

I can’t get the Rambo to fit right on mine (I guess he’s in between sizes, I dunno), but have been using Shires masks almost exclusively. No forelock rubbing on either of the horses I’ve used them on. Current horse also has quite a bit of forelock, while my old horse had less. Neither had issues.
