Fly spray nozzles that just quit working? WTH??

So trying to figure out what I am missing. I have 2 fly spray bottles from last year (Equisect and another brand) Have been using them with mixed concentrate of another brand. The nozzles just die. First the start acting strange. Now I can’t even squeeze the trigger. I have soaked the sprayers and tubes in hot water, cold water - tried spraying regular water through them in case they were clogged. AND the “generic” spray bottle from southern states that I was using with a twist nozzle has ALSO stopped working. I’ve never had this problem. Any thoughts or solutions?? It’s very irritating.

There are cheap bottles which stop working. The companies may be getting those cheap bottles. What I do is buy a good quality empty spray bottles from either the feed store or online, and use those, dumping whatever I am using into those. SOme people buy them for plant sprayers, you know what I mean. Much higher quality - at least you can choose to find one with higher quality.

And yes, the spray bottles from the feed store with the name brand spray in them often don’t work to even finish the spray inside them. So I always use pre-bought sprayers.

Also, when mixing up my own, I make a 5 gallon version of the mix and use garden sprayers. Much better, those last longer, and the spray is better.

I find that I am lucky to get one season out of a spray bottle. I buy a small bottle of fly spray with nozzle attached. During the summer, I then buy a large bottle and pour into the smaller bottle. At the end of the summer, when small bottle is empty, I throw away.

Well this is my first FULL fly season w/horses at home so I’m not crazy. When I boarded the bottles all “miraculously” worked but I was only buying and using for one horse (vs. 4) and only spraying when I rode. So I’m not crazy then! My friend uses the Dover silver spray bottles (generic refillable). Maybe I’ll try those.

I’ve been using one like this, in a half gallon size for a couple years - works like a charm every time!

Let me guess, are the nozzles blue and white? I have had a few and they always quit working. I don’t even bother getting those anymore.
