Bird Town looks ready to foal.
She had a filly last night.
Sadly, a few days ago Via Veneto had a filly but died from complications of foaling. Nothing to see, she was taken to a clinic where it happened.
Filly is on a nurse mare, which raises in me a whole lot of feelings. Glad the filly is OK, wondering about the nurse mare’s foal. Read about nurse mares, and saw a whole can of worms. Actually, several cans. Hope Rosie’s (the nurse mare) foal is being cared for.
Gumtree commented on how quickly it can go bad. Obviously true. However, it can go bad quickly in live racing too. Eight Belles, Barbaro, Go for Wand, etc… But I still plan to watch the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, hoping for safe trips for everyone.
