Foal Patrol

Hoo boy, I can see this as a major time-waster. Will get no work done for vast periods.

I love the fact that major farms are coming up with ways to get fans interested in other aspects of racing besides just what happens on the racetrack. And of course, who does’t like foals?

How fun! It’s like a professional, TB industry version of Mare Stare. I’ve saved the link so that I can pass it out to my Horse Production students next month. They are always anxious about the foaling project, and this will be an excellent resource for them.

Not sure if this is even possible, but do you think farms will use a delay in case a foaling goes wrong?

More likely they will just turn off the camera if there are problems. There are no unassisted births at the big TB farms in Kentucky.

I love it! Both are currently in their stall. The foal is asleep and the mare is munching hay. Having the access is terrific.

Stopchargingmaria looks to be close to foaling. They are wrapping her tail now. She was down and rolling just a minute ago.

Just turned it on and she foaled!

Thank you for sharing! Her foal has arrived! They’re just licking each other’s faces now. :tickled_pink:

It’s a girl.

It was just mesmerizing. I couldn’t move for almost 90 minutes after she was born. How do any of you in breeding get sleep? Or, lol, I guess you don’t.

I sure as heck would. I have foaled enough mares to say 90+% of the time things go quick and easy. But when it doesn’t it can get real nasty, heartbreaking real quick.

The majority of people that would be watching have no idea of what can and can’t be done when things go downhill. But the nature of cyber-land would allow those people to sling mud at the farm and the foaling attendants. I would only agree to it if it was on time delay.

Might be a stupid question, but I can’t find an answer: was Zenyatta bred back last year?
If so, to what stallion? Plans for her this year?
Thanks, all!

She was bred to Into Mischief in 2017.

Also slightly OT: Taylor Made and the other Chrome sites have been posting tons of pictures of little Chromes and Chromettes as well as keeping a total. Quite a cute bunch. And–it doesn’t seem to have bothered him to go so quickly from track to breeding shed.

Got a text that one of the mares, La Verdad, is expected to foal tonight. (Just in case anyone wants to “tune in”)

I love that Hail To Reason top and bottom.
And that Hoist The Flag.
Maybe some of those really old Man O’ War lines won’t die out after all.
