Anyone else watch this? Discovered it two years ago and love watching. It’s a live feed from three Chimneys Farm on mares due to foal. Been watching one mare ready to pop.
I keep forgetting to tune in. Thanks for the reminder.
First year was great–watched Stopchargingmaria have her foal live. Second year sort of meh, kind of limited coverage, cameras seemed to be down a lot.
I get it–first year a mare died foaling (of course not shown), and after that I think the people in charge of the feed became more cautious.
I enjoy the interviews with the people who are in charge of the foalings–and how different farms handle the foalings. Some farms seem very proactive (e.g., grab the legs as soon as they appear and haul it out of there), some seem more prone to letting nature take its course.
Sounds like Magical World may go this weekend. I thought she maybe looked a tiny smidge crampy at one point early today, bu who wouldn’t be at this point.
I’ve had her up whenever I’m home. She looks abit crampy last night as well.
Magical World looks like she’s thinking about foaling tonight…
She’s going now looks like
Holy cow that’s a big foal. Poor mama
hope everything is alright. There is four people pulling on the foal and someone else in with an oxygen tank standing by. Foals out, they are giving it oxygen.
EDIT: okay all seems well now with mom and baby
I tuned this morning at 6 AM. Foal and Mom look fine. I saw him nursing, then napping.
There is a blog post explaining it was a long, tough delivery due to “positioning of foal’s front legs and head” and the fact that the foal was so large that hip lock occurred. They did give the tyke oxygen.
Poor mama indeed.
I knew she was ready, but I was too tired to stay up and watch. I missed all the drama, but the foal (a colt) looks cute this morning.
I stayed up and watched. I kept expecting her to go “in another minute” because they usually do. Then I expected them to turn off the camera. I was surprised that they didn’t, but all’s well that ends well!
I was thinking the camera was gonna be turned off any second as well. But yes they both look great this morning! He’s so cute!
he’s lovely. Glad everyone is fine.
I was just reading the blog for New Money Honey and she tested positive for Neonatal Isoerythrolysis (NI). They explained a bit about it.
After they milk out all the colostrum and New Money Honey is producing regular milk, the foal will be okay to nurse, or will they get a nurse mare?
On March 2, the farm wrote:
"New Money Honey continues to progress as the staff at Indian Creek Farm monitor her. Prior to foaling, the farm did a blood screening to check if her foal will be predisposed to developing Neonatal Isoerythrolysis (NI) after delivery. NI happens when the foal ingests colostrum or first milk that has antibodies directed towards the red blood cells of the foal.
Update New Money Honey came back with a negative (not positive) result for this test which is a relief."
Both Ashado and New Money Honey are very restless tonight.
Ashado is restless right now
Wrapping her tail now.
shes down. This could be it!
Fast delivery! Beautiful white blaze on the baby. It’s a filly!
spunky young lady, I’m enjoying watching
