Oh! It did work. I guess I know how to post pictures now. :lol:

Yay! Great looking little guy. Please do keep posting photos. Foaling season is one of the only good things going on right now.

I totally agree with that.

New update kinda on New money honey

“Thank you for being a Foal Patrol fan. On Friday, we spoke to the owner of New Money Honey and her filly. As of Friday afternoon both the mare and filly were doing okay. As part of this program, it is important for us to respect the privacy of the owner/farm and only share updates approved by them. When we receive new information, we will share it here on Foal Patrol. Thank you for following.”

hope everything is alright with them.

@LaurieB , any new photos? :slight_smile:

The brace on Vaulcluse 20’s hind seems to have done its job. She looks good. Wish I could see them turned out. There’s only one video of turn out and that was with the brace.

I want to see foals playing!

[h=5]Terrible news 😢[/h] April 6th, 2020

It is with great sadness we share with you that New Money Honey’s filly has been humanely euthanized. Foal Patrol received a letter from Rood and Riddle equine hospital outlining the events that led to this difficult decision. She had recovered well from her colic surgery, but several days later developed abdominal discomfort. Her second surgery showed extensive scar tissue formations, involving multiple areas of the gastrointestinal tract. After considering all options, it was the kindest decision to make for the filly. We support the veterinary team at Rood and Riddle, the farm and the owners in their decision. New Money Honey continues to recover from her c-section. The farm is currently on limited staff due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the camera is shut down indefinitely.

Thank you for following Foal Patrol. At this time, we ask that you kindly respect the privacy of the owners and farm staff. If you have any questions, please contact the Museum directly

Oh c***!

Post on Foal Patrol that New Money Honey’s filly had to be euthanized. Had colic surgery, and did not make a good recovery.

The post stated that New Money Honey is still recovering well from her C section.

I had to read it twice. I kept thinking that it must be the mare, not the foal, that had to be put down.

What a shame. :cry:

Every season. It always happens. Even though you know it will, it’s still heartbreaking. I’m so sorry for the connections.

Honestly, I’ve always been surprised at the number of successful foalings. There is so much that can go wrong, even when everything humanly possible is done right. :frowning:

What has it been? 3 weeks? I’m losing track of time. I hope the mare recovers well from the surgery.

Almost 4 weeks. The filly was born March 10th. Hope New Money Honey can recover and get home soon.

I don’t know how you breeders do it–I would be terrified at every foaling. And afterwards.

I wonder what New Money Honey’s future will be. Can mares recover enough from a C-section to foal naturally again? If not, can they have more than one C-section? If she can’t be bred again, I hope she gets as good a retirement as Rachel Alexandra. Retired from the breeding wars, and apparently is living the good life.

:cry:

I have never bred my own, I’ve worked for some small private operations in the past. I must say I was always nervous, in a quiet way. You have to function, you can freak out later.

After you’ve seen one go wrong, it is difficult to forget. People that foal out mares are special type of person. The kind of people that stay very cool under pressure. I have the utmost respect for the breeders I’ve known and worked for.

Someone here can probably tell you about the re-breeding of mares that have had a C-section. The only one I knew was never bred again, but that was a long time ago.

Alpine sky is now on 24 hour camera. Is it just me or is her stall alittle small? I assume that’s not the foaling stall.

They just brought her in for the nights, from the paddock, a day or so ago.
