Foal Watch 2021 - 'Tis the Season!

I don’t mind it here. Most people can disagree in a civilized manner or work out misunderstandings as adults.
I only have 2 people ignored (both frequent threads about the same subject) and since I can’t see their posts, it doesn’t matter to me if they can see mine. :slightly_smiling_face:

Good lord!!! If that belly drops any lower you will have to put it in a wheelbarrow to move around. I think you made a very wise decision to move her to the vet school to foal.

Hope you get to welcome a healthy foal soon! I check in every morning hoping for the happy news, c’mon Arielle!

I don’t know, we’ve seen much bigger bellies here on the breeding forum and IRL. When I have time I’ll look to see if I can find some of the pictures from years ago. Might be difficult since the format change of the forum, but my , there were some enormous mares.

It is somewhat alarming when they become so huge, for sure.

This is not the photo I was remembering. The one I remembered was a TB mare being led in from a field that was posted on COTH. This gives an idea though. https://www.dreamstime.com/stock-photography-pregnant-horse-image19106422

I saw posts and got excited. lol

Glad she’s settled in and being watched over.

No updates so far this weekend. Which, (aside from the update we’re all hoping for!) is good news when your horse is at a vet school, I suppose. I’ll have to take her more feed and hay tomorrow; hopefully I’ll get to go back and see her myself again then. I will keep everyone posted!

While Arielle keeps us all waiting, thought I would share a few pics from Stormy’s first week of life! If y’all want to follow her, feel free on my instagram which is https://www.instagram.com/bay.trak.mare/

She’s lovely! Tickled pink aren’t you?

Gorgeous. Congrats

She’s lovely, @Trak_Eventer!

I’ve been checking in on Arielle’s progress from the beginning. I hope you have at least been able to catch up on sleep! You started keeping an eye on her when I was foal watching my mare that foaled in March!
Jingles for a safe delivery and healthy foal!

Thanks, everyone! Arielle is at day 377 today. She had another ultrasound this morning, and everything still looks good. The senior vet student on her case said the foal was very active. Arielle has been showing some minor signs of discomfort today - nothing that screams “labor” but enough that her students have been checking on her every half hour. It took her a day or two to start accepting treats from the students (she’s a bit suspicious of “strangers”), but she is now very much enjoying all the spoiling and attention.

IT’S A FILLY!!!

Arielle waxed for real yesterday and was streaming milk and not eating this morning. She foaled a palomino filly around 11 am Knoxville time. I’ll hopefully have photos to post later today, but it was a quick and easy birth, after all the drama leading up to it.

OH YAY!!! Glad to hear it went smoothly for her. Is the filly big?

@Jenerationx, she looks like a pretty average sized filly (for an Arab), as far as I can tell. But I haven’t seen a photo of her standing yet.
