Congratulations on your nice colt!
He does look hyper-pigmented, like he may go grey. Only time will tell.
Whatever the color, he is handsome. Congratulations! @FromTheGalaxy
Who is the stallion again?
You have a whole maternity ward cookin’!
Congratulations, @FromTheGalaxy!!! He looks like a precious fuzzy stuffed toy except that he’s tall enough to show small ponies already. No wonder Sunny was getting uncomfortable! Hugs & kisses to both mama & baby!

According to her first post. Mare by a son of Unbridled’s Song
Lol, not all mine! I sent her to a foaling facility since it’s been almost 10 years since I’ve foaled a mare and she’s a maiden (and a sensitive one at that). Super happy with my choice, it’s very much a relief to have experienced eyes on both mama and baby.
I would love if he ended up grey! Was really hoping for a grey filly, but easier on me to sell a bay colt, and he is technically for sale.
Daddy is Connemara stallion Coud’Poker Tartifume like @JBCool confirmed.
More pics from today! Pretty sure he’s going to stay bay at this point, he’s lightened up quite a bit now that he’s fully dry.
The lighting is kind of awkward in those photos, but he does look like he’ll stay bay to me. He’s adorable!
Probably won’t get any outdoor pics of him for a few days. He’s a little bit folded up still so we want to make sure he’s had time to relax his little tendons before thoroughbred mama takes him on a gallop around the field!
What a cutie! Will you repeat the cross to try again for a grey filly?
I haven’t decided on future breeding plans for her just yet. Definitely giving her this year off, and I hope to get to ride her some again. She clearly loves being a momma though, so I’m tentatively thinking about breeding again in 2024. The stallion owner also has a buckskin welsh/connie cross stallion that is pretty dang cute!
Golly dang he is too stinkin’ cute!!!
Beautiful foal!
Decades ago, a neighbor had a foal born a darker bay from a grey mare.
He was completely bay and registered as bay and at four he started turning grey and by ten was completely white.
Everyone, even the association, when trying to change his color in his papers, were wondering if it was the right horse.
Normally we could tell which foal was grey, that one surprised everyone.
I think today you can test for color easily, if in doubt.
I’ve heard of some that grey out much later, although know it’s not very common. He will be microchipped, so I guess if that happens we’ll be able to determine for sure it is the same horse!
I mentioned to my mom today that we could do genetic testing if we wanted to be 100% sure, but it’s not really worth it to me at this point. I guess if a buyer had a strong preference they could always spend the money to confirm
He cooked!! Chunky monkey.
I was going to say this about the hyper pigmentation. He may gray out after all.
Last year I finally got my gray filly. Hope you get yours one day
Congrats! He is lovely!
I’m another lurker, but made an account just to pop in and say: I love this thread & look forward to it every year. I’m out of the horse world for the time being, so I read COTH to get my horse fix. Never bred, don’t know anything about the breeding process, but it’s truly a bright spot in my spring to watch all the babes enter the world. And I hope you all know that I ache on the sidelines with you when things go wrong. Thank you guys so much for sharing everything with us
