Dead heat for 4th…wasn’t much distance between 1st and 4th. Brennan kinda got himself locked in with a ton of horse and nowhere to go.
I think he deserves a nice retirement, perhaps with someone driving or riding him. He’s earned his keep.
From what I have read, he is not a nice horse to be around and those don’t do retirement well
I think they’ll get him his 100th win and he’ll be done. He’s certainly not scraping the bottom of the barrel, but he’s a shadow of his old self. He might be a nice one to go to KHP, maybe?
I hadn’t heard he is unpleasant; I thought he did a meet and greet at our/his local track (maybe I am misremembering?), and I think he’s slated to do Breyerfest at KHP this year.
I have heard he likes a job but let’s face it; any horse that successful through 14 probably has an overactive work ethic:lol:
I read somewhere that he isn’t always the nicest thing to be around and was gelded early because of it. Lots of horses with an overactive work ethic do not retire well…saw one that was so horrible in retirement they pulled him our and raced B circuit with him until he was 19
Well, so much for my theory that he would get his 100 wins and be done

So they have to retire him after this year. If he isn’t a horse that will enjoy romping in a pasture, perhaps there is another career that could work for him. OTTB’s retire and find second jobs, sometimes even a third job. There is a niche in the endurance driving world. Or even CDE’s.
They could also race him in BC…they allow horses to go to 17. 16 yo Prime Time Bliss won the other night.
Here is the article on that win - http://www.standardbredcanada.ca/news/3-3-18/16-year-old-standardbred-wins.html
