For A Laugh: A List of "Good" Horse Names from My Apple News Feed

From a quick glance, my top faves for geldings would have to be Chucky ( :open_mouth:), Doggy and Godolphin!

And for mares? Flo, Shirley and Wanda, definitely.

Although the advice at the end of the article stating that it might be confusing to name your horse something like Trot or Whoa is certainly on the money!

LOL!

I thought “Elmer” was kind of a rude suggestion! LOL!

I chuckled aloud at “Chad” and “Nancy.”

My mom and I used to make up names for this neverending string of bay broodmares one guy had at the barn where we used to board years ago. We helped feed at the barn to offset some board expenses, so we dealt with the mares a lot. We either didn’t know some of their names or couldn’t remember them, so we named them things like “Judy” and “Barbara” LOL.

This post should be pinned and referenced anytime someone asks for help on naming something.

This list will also work for:
goats
dogs
cats
renaming your friends
baby dolls
farm trucks
sheep
and llamas

Ps. I try not to name my dogs names that rhyme with no.

What can I say… I have a cat named after a leading character in a Midsummer Night’s Dream…

Yes, but is it as good a name as, say… Marvin?

ETA: Titania? Oberon?

I have known more than one dog named Puck…

Sergeant Reckless was a MARE. They suggest it as a name for a male horse.

That’s my cat! It was a tie between Shakespeare and the fact that he’s a little black blur that skids erratically around our house…

I made lists of horse names when I was a kid: for some reason I thought they might be useful one day.

The one I remember best, and I still have no idea why it struck me as a good name, was Roman Banana. I have never had a horse named Roman Banana, and I never shall, having given up on Palominos a long time ago. I’ll probably Orson Wells it on my deathbed, mumbling “Roman Banana…”
