For fun- my TB going western

What do you guys think? He’s mostly my fun/pleasure horse; we dabble in eventing, hunters, jumpers, and trail riding. Just curious to how I look in the western tack (my demons are my shoulders and hands!) and how my guy looks. He’s had most of the past year off (I was pregnant and had a baby in December) but in general, he loves to stretch down and lift his back, but tends to be inconsistent in the bridle when I bring him back up and ask him bend and all that. So that’s something we have to work on. I just have a difficult time being able to tell if he’s pushing enough with the hind and lifting his back when he’s not stretched down and out. All opinions welcome. I think our goal for the year is to attend some low key local sorting practices and possibly some ranch pleasure classes.

ETA: I do wear a helmet the majority of the time but the majority of my tack and equipment are still at a different barn…I just couldn’t pass up this rare chance to ride my horse for once!

I think you both look lovely. Western horses usually go with more of a loop in the rein though. Your horse looks like he is really attentive to you so you will do fine. Have fun sorting is a blast!

Nice lookin’ horse!

Since you say that some of your tack wasn’t there, is this your saddle? I noticed that the seat size looks much too large for you, and it’s putting you into a chair seat.

Also, remember to have your heels down and only the ball of your foot on the stirrup (not your foot all the way in).

Sorting is fun! You will have a good time.
