Posted this on Facebook (no feedback yet) but figured I would also try here – I walked the cross cross-country course last night and the footing looked remarkably good! I have a feeling it’ll be great after all the sun we’ve gotten today.
I’m competing tomorrow and I’ve been assigned to the grass ring, so wondered how the footing was holding up? I competed there three years ago at their inaugural event, and it was way wetter underneath the topsoil than they had anticipated – as a result we were floundering around, and the horses could barely move in it because the track was so chopped up. I think they had actually even moved the rings between Saturday and Sunday? (I competed on Sunday.)
To his credit, David O’Connor sent out an email afterwards to all competitors, apologizing and promising to do better the next time; it was a non-issue the following years but we have gotten LOT of rain recently, and more forecast for tomorrow.
TIA for any feedback!
