For those who haven't read this

Visiting with horse history!

That was a fun read - but why does the writer seem to think that horses in their teens should be acting and looking “old” ?

I have seen all those horses except Tapit I think and it is a great experience. It is great to see them in their glory years then lounging around in their second careers or retirement living like pampered champions.

While most professional horse players are encyclopedias of racing knowledge, they know diddly squat about horses in general. Most have never had the pleasure of being around horses that were “just being horses.” Their only regular exposure is youngsters on the track, making those retired guys seem ancient in theory.

Which is why I think it’s great that the industry in general has made some huge strides in becoming more accessible to all fans.
