I used to have a SUV for work and a truck for towing (gooseneck) but now that I have two teen drivers I opted to use my diesel truck as my everyday transportation. We as a family cannot afford to have spares with two teenagers driving. I go to work in a suit most days and I still laugh at all of the funny looks I get when I pull up in my truck. I wouldn’t trade it for the world!
Me too!! Folks at work can’t believe I drive a TRUCK. HA! I LOVE my truck.
Thats what almost all the ladies in my neighborhood drive-big trucks! To work, to T ball games, whatever! I’ve got my heels back there with the feed bags and candy wrappers and extra sweaters and fossilzed cookies and other crap in my truck!
I have only had one car ever, and hated it. Love my trucks!
I drove my big diesel truck into the grocery store parking lot, got out, and this older gentleman who was standing by his car said “that’s a mighty big truck for a little lady.”
Cracked me up.
My husband just went back to school full time (to get his RN). He’s driving my little economy car and I’ve had to drive the farm truck because I work 2 miles from home - and it’s not a fancy vehicle. I’m not a very “tough” woman, by appearances anyway ;). It’s funny to jump out in slacks and a nice blouse, carrying my lap top bag.
And don’t you just love the questions: “Does your husband know you’ve got his rig?”
I have a truck for towing, and my farm truck. Husband has a work truck and personal truck. Around here, it’s not that eccentric though. Ever get the truck “nod”? I used to wonder if I knew the drivers, until I realized it had to be some sort of truck driving social acknowledgement.
I have 6 trucks. The 52 chevy, the 86 GMC, the 89 chevy, the 90 chevy, the 93 F350 dually, the 02 F150. Love my trucks. The only cars that we have are pre 1975 and most are pre 1950.
I get freaked out in small cars.
Another multi-truck owner here. :). My husband and I trade off between one of the trucks and the car. When I use it for work, I, too, am in a suit. And my truck is usually dirty! Farm truck. :). I love it, but admit it’s a PITA when I drive “downtown” and have to park in a garage. Plus, since I’m a court reporter, I have a lot of stuff to lug. Not easy getting it out of the side of the truck when in a garage as opposed to a trunk!
Trucks are for girls!

Yeahhh, this isn’t going to happen to me since I am taller than most men.:lol:
That said, I’ve had a couple comments when driving my truck (My dad got me a 2500 GMC Sierra, lifted, with custom mufflers that make a gas truck sound like a diesel for my graduation when I turned 18 half a dozen years ago so it is my pride and joy and baby and favorite non-animal thing on earth ;)), especially as I am blonde and STLL look about 18 without makeup.
My favorite? “Wait, that’s your truck? I’d thought you’d drive like a red BMW convertible or something. Not a big redneck pick up.” A past date’s comment.:lol:
Runner-up: “You drive a truck? You look like the kind of girl who rides motorycles. You got a bike?” Ooook?
Don’t tell my truck, but I went and looked at a couple GMC Terrains the other month, just to see the new line. Drove one around for a test drive and was kind of quiet, came back in with the salesman. Sat down to look through the price, stats, etc. Salesman looks at me, looks out the window at my truck and says, “You’re a truck girl. I just don’t think you’re going to be happy with a Terrain and honestly, I think you’d be leaving the SUV half the time just to keep driving the truck.” I happened to agree with him. I drove my truck home loving every bit of it all over again.
Trucks are FANTASTIC. I’ve driven some decent cars, decent SUVS…just can’t beat a truck! Nothing makes you feel like a competent driver like making a turn or a parking space or etc. while some person in a compact is still trying to neg. it.
My mum has suggested that I get the personalized tag “whip it” for my truck. Apparently I’m a little bit of a heavy foot. Guess it’s a good thing I drive a truck and not a sports car then, eh?
