I know very little about fox hunting so I have a question about the helmets I have seen in some pics recently. They weren’t ordinary velvet helmets as they had what seemed like double brims and were much wider around the rider’s forehead. I have not seen these anywhere that I know of. What type of helmets are these?
I didn’t see anything posted in your reply. The ones I am referring to aren’t typical helmets in that they seem to have double visors. They are low profile velvet caps but the visors/bills are new to me, I saw them in pics of the Harford Elkridge hunt club and another one as well.
A lot of folks that event or steeplechase also hunt in our area.
Perhaps it’s your basic Charles owen skull cap helmet with a removable cover, the visor slants up .
That would be my guess. Go to HR’s web site,
Scroll down to 10th picture showing HR on gorgeous dk bay/brown (almost black) horse and see if that is the helmet look you are talking about.
