Anyone have suggestions for a forward flap dressage saddle with a deep seat??
I’m pretty sure County offers a forward flap in most of their models. My eventer friends love the forward flap Epiphany. I’ve ridden in the regular flap epiphany and loved it.
I agree, the County Epiphany. I have it, love it. I would not call the seat the deepest tho. I think my Perfection is deeper.
This is an unpopular opinion, but I do dressage in what is technically a VSD, it’s a custom Albion that was made for someone else, so I’m not sure of the closest model it was designed from. That being said, I have no idea how they marketed it as a VSD, because I can’t imagine trying to jump in the thing… It’s basically a dressage saddle with a very deep seat, and slightly shorter and more forward flaps. It is not what I was looking for, but it’s so comfortable and supports my position so well that I’m getting it reflocked to it’s 4th horse now.
It depends on if you are looking to buy used, or if you can order a new saddle. Many brands will make a forward flap for you.
I have a Black Country Vinici that I custom ordered with a 1.5" forward flap and a short block that ends just above my knee. My next saddle will probably be a Lovatt & Ricketts because there is a local rep who knows her stuff and will be able to work with me hands-on to get the right flap configuration in a saddle that rides similarly to the Black Country (for $1,000 less).
Thanks for the suggestions!
