Fountain of Youth and Devona Dale Stakes shake up the 3 year old picture

Quite an undercard for the SA race, more questions and some new players. You should watch these back, great racing.

On the girls side, the spectacular Spice is Nice ( that breeder B. Flay sold for a million last year) ran awkwardly and still finished second. Jock said she was jumping shadows all the way down the backstretch and lost focus, she’s still green… It was a very bright late afternoon and the shadows flipped from where they are mornings, reasonable excuse. Imagine she’s getting a nice, new shadow roll. Winner was Tonalists Shape with a very workmanlike trip, they both beat some other really nice fillies.

The FoY was fascinating strategy wise with Chance It scratched due to a historically difficult outside gate slot breaking immediately into the turn and Ete Indien now breaking from the outside slot securing the early lead, falling back slightly coming off the backstretch then winning. By 8 1/2 lengths. No idea if he’s that fast or the others got fooled into thinking he could not get the lead then fooled again into thinking he would drop back and they could collect him as he tired. FG was subbing for regular rider and spent some time before race day galloping and getting to know him, kind of a high strung type. Biancone is back. Spectacular looking colt too.

Dennis Moment never a factor, uncomfortable break, and spit out the bit before the end of the backstretch. Looked sound finishing but was in a different zip code by then. Maybe he grabbed himself or maybe he’s trying to tell us something. Imagine he’s off the Derby Trail.

Might also enjoy watching the Dirt Mile and Mr Freeze smoking the rest and the Turf with Alpha Zulu impressive. One if the best race cards I’ve watched in some time, even the lesser races were good. Lots of really close races you should enjoy watching.
