Foxhunting Art

I was helping my mother move and she has two large (inside of mat is 11@x18.5") framed Cecil Alden hunt prints that we no longer have a place for. Is there a market for these? How would you go about selling them? They are The Hunt Breakfast and The Hunt Supper. They were on the dining room walls before I was born - but are framed with preservation glass.

Thank you!

Thank you! They seem higher quality than a brand new prints and are more than 40 years old. I just don’t have the knowledge to know if that matters- or to whom.

Not precisely sure, but you could poke around for antique dealers in your area and see if they had any opinions.

They are very charming and would have broader appeal than the regular field of hunters that most hunt prints are.

I have a couple of vintage hunt prints I’d like to sell, but the generic hunt scene does not seem to have a market. I am going to take mine down to the local used tack shop and tell them to see what they can get for it (minus 25% commission.) Packaging, insuring, mailing …

This downsizing is a pain in the arse.

There is a steady market for Cecil Alden prints in the UK.
A website to look around and then perhaps contact her directly is Sally Mitchell Fine Art. She has vast knowledge of both modern sporting art and antique prints and paintings and she might be able to help you.
