Foxhuntinglife.com

Anyone go to the site? I was dissapointed that you have to subscribe to read the total content. Looks good, but I guess I’m spoiled when it comes to the www.

Tally ho!

Yes, I suscribed because I liked what I learned. Norm Fine has a world of experience, personally knows many of the great huntsmen, and ridden with many of the packs world wide. He is quick to answer questions and help. The mentoring alone would be worth it. I have already used the questions and gotten a response within a day.

I really enjoyed Betsy Parker’s (Hunter’s Rest on CotH) series on travelling coast to coast with horses. She is a superb photo/journalist. Her writing is such fun to read.

I hope that this site flies. Norm did covertside for many years. He knows publishing and hunting.

Thanks for the atta girl …
I think the hope would be that if he gets enough support/readers that soon the advertising would generate enough that is can be free. Even I (cheap/poor/spoiled) would pay for this one and I pay for nothing. Norman Fine is without equal in terms of knowledge and insight, and if it takes me/us paying him to digest the world’s hunting news, then I am fully in favor of it. Seriously, his knowledge spans the globe. Did you read his chapter in the Centennial book? I think it was among the 2 or 3 best, and that is a superb book.
Xerox - why don’t you write him a note saying what I said about all this and expressing your (our!) hope that, someday, content would be free for us struggling horsemen. He will respond favorably, I think, and if enough of us support his site, he may be able to get it done faster.

It’s fantastic and well worth it for the foxhunting junkie.

just my 2 sense…

I vote…too 'spensive! Way too 'spensive!

Well, I haven’t subscribed yet, which I need to do to read HR’s travellogue…I like the concept and love Norm’s work, but the $40 per year is giving me pause, I already spend all day on the computer at work and have too dang many hard copy magazines…I can see myself plunking down the $40 and then not being able to keep up with the on line material. And that would be frustrating.

TELL HIM THAT THE PRICE IS STOPPING YOU GUYS. TELL HIM you want it cheaper or free. TELL HIM.

Maybe the $40 is to keep out the riffraff. But wait, not many riffraff are foxhunters.

I just can’t see paying money to access the site when I’ve got lots of free sites I can go to.

TELL HIM THAT THE COST IS STOPPING YOU FROM SUBSCRIBING. It’s easy. Just tell him. His content is without equal. But, hell, I’m poor AND cheap so am also unlikely to pay for anything. All we need to do is say so.

The content is without parallel. Really. Quality writers, relevant subjects, and all in all a great read.

You can’t expect everything in life to be free, folks. If you think the subscription is too expensive then provide that feedback.

But expecting something to be free is a bit much. People are working hard to provide you with the knowledge they’ve acquired with blood, sweat and tears.

It’s worth something. The subscription price might come down as readership grows anyway. There are few publications, online or in print, devoted to this sport and its experts are few and far between.

Did it!

Told him! Did a “contact us” and told him it’s just too 'spensive…Perfect way for us “whiners” to tell him!!!
Wateryglen is a notorious whiner and perfectly cool wid dat! Let me be your leader!!

Calling all members of the Snobbington Hunt to tell him too! We’re the only hunt that matters anyway!!! :p:p:p

Have noticed that more of it is now available that wasn’t. Like the recipes!! Yeee haw!! (It’s all about the food for WG!!)
