Frank Baines soon to be discontinued saddle..would you?

So my horse and I found a new Baines Capriole we really like at our local tack store. He moves quite well underneath this one. But, Frank Baines will be discontinuing the Capriole as of April 1, 2018. Would you let that be a factor in buying? I have several wonderful fitters around to help with flocking/adjusting. The Baines website states their saddles have a 2 year warranty. If something went wrong, how would the company handle it being they will not make the saddle anymore. Thank you any insight into this. Much appreciated!

I had a Capriole for a while. It wasn’t great position-wise, but was a dream for trail riding! Overall I am a fan of Frank Baines.

Ask the company, they are not going under themselves, just discontinuing the model. I came quite close to buying a Baines dressage saddle, which fit my horse like a glove (saddle fitter who brought it and other models confirmed). I really liked how it felt.

I have a Frank Baines Capriole that I love position-wise. I got it custom with a nubuck seat, buffalo hide, and velcro blocks so I could position them how I want. It was the saddle I sat in and went “a-ha!” for lining me up well. They are good quality saddles and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy because they are discontinuing the model. I’m going to PM you.

You should have no concerns about buying the saddle. The company is just discontinuing some of the less popular models to make room for new models coming out. There is absolutely nothing wrong with them. The Capriole has a more open seat than is currently popular so that probably contributes to its slower sales.

That said, it may be a great time to find a deal on those models being discontinued. I’ve got my Capriole marked down for clearance because I won’t need a demo of a model that I can’t order. If these are models that work for you, look on it as an opportunity!

I agree with No.Stirrups. I work with them and would have no problem with recommend it. They are just changing up their model line up and stop making some of the less popular model. They are introducing new models next year. Nothing bad, just typically business decisions. People’s saddle preferences have changed a lot in the last 5 to 10 years.

Oooh. Want. Horse needs.

OP (or anyone else with a Capriole to sell)-- if you don’t buy this one, will you pass the specs and owner’s contact info on to me?

Thanks!
