He’s just won the Sussex Stakes, extending his record to 12-0.
I watched the race live - and keep in mind one of the three taking him on was a stablemate - and it was just a paid workout. Couldn’t have been any simpler and (sadly) a wee bit anticlimactic. Hopefully his next race will provide more of a wagering interest and we’ll see someone step up to the plate and make it a race.
Each time he wins at the same distance over the same few horses who are willing to bother, it seems less impressive.
We know what he can do at a mile with a rabbit. It would be interesting to see what he can do under other conditions.
On the satellite system I watch, during the Olympic coverage they’ve been running a program called “Mind The Gap” during the day with features on goings-on in the U.K. during the Games.
The hosts took a trip out of London today to head to Goodwood today to cover all things Frankel, including covering the race and some fabulous interviews including a pedigree analysis. Fairly in-depth for a non-racing target audience, actually.
They (rightly!) said that Frankel running was the only thing that could (should!) take attention away from the Olympics today.

Britain’s Best Athlete Is Not Running for Gold
One of Great Britain’s star “athletes” returns to the track Wednesday but he won’t be running for a gold medal. British super-horse Frankel, who is ranked the best race horse in the world, will face a field of only three other horses on Wednesday at England’s Goodwood.
Undefeated in 11 starts, the four year-old stands to become the only horse to win Wednesday’s Qipco Sussex Stakes twice. But if Frankel notches his 12th win, trainer Sir Henry Cecil won’t be there to see it, due to ongoing treatment for an illness, he said in a statement.
Worth noting also Frankel’s full brother - Noble Mission - ran yesterday and won a tough battle in the Gordon Stakes.
Now 13-0! Wow
He was stretched out some in the 4th at York today (Aug 22) in the Juddmonte International, another 2 furlongs in distance over his last effort, and didn’t look to be asked one bit … and crushed the field.
It was a fine run by the O’Brien’s and St Nicholas Abbey for a tight 3rd (losing by a nose to Farhh) some 5-lengths back from Frankel.

What I love most is that the horse is a 4 yr old, still sound and still racing…more than I can say for most of the US good horses.

Yep. I’d say his odds today of 1-10 are better than those of him crossing the Atlantic 
That said I’d love to see him run the mile and a half in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on October 7 instead of anything in the Breeders’ Cup. That too is highly unlikely as Henry Cecil has said Frankel’s last start will most likely be the Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 20.

Frankel has confirmed his status as the best horse in the world Wednesday by becoming the first horse in history to run to an official rating of 140 twice in his career thanks to his seven-length victory in the Group 1 Juddmonte International Stakes at York.
Just as remarkably, he has achieved that rating over two different distances, once over a mile in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot in June and Wednesday over an extended mile and a quarter.
It is not just his almost unbelievable superiority over the best of the rest, it is also his exceptional consistency which marks him as a horse the like of which many have never seen before.
Frankel has run to a rating above 130 in each of his last six outings.
Worth noting, albeit likely with precious little success, Breeder’s Cup officials were in England today to try and convince the connections to come out to Cali this year …

The Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot in October is favoured for his final appearance but some observers believe that the son of Galileo has to run in the 12 furlong Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in order to cement his reputation as a true legend of the turf.
Fallon, however, believes that a trip across the Atlantic should be the order of the day: “For me there is only one race for Frankel and that is the Breeders’ Cup Classic” he told his exclusive column in the Racing Post Weekender.
“He would win that on the snaff and the Americans wouldn’t know which way to turn” he added.

Frankel will be on tv Saturday with extensive coverage - just for his workout The plan is to effectively give him a taste as if this was an actual race so he’ll work in company with several horses.

An opportunity to catch a glimpse of the world’s highest-rated racehorse arrives on Saturday when Frankel gallops before racing at Newmarket.
It is a rare occasion in the sport when a card featuring two Group One races, a Group Two and one of the most famous handicaps on the British turf is rivalled by a pre-race gallop but after Frankel’s explosive performances this summer at Royal Ascot, Glorious Goodwood and York’s Ebor meeting that is definitely the case.
Frankel is due to work under Tom Queally an hour before the first race and his trainer, Sir Henry Cecil, is expected to attend, despite still fighting a throat infection, a side-effect of treatment for stomach cancer which has left him struggling to find his voice.
“We’re delighted that Frankel will be coming to the track as he is such an awesome horse to watch when at full stretch,” said Newmarket’s spokesman, Tony Rushmer. “Sir Henry plans to bring him along with Bullet Train and Midsummer Sun to work at 1pm. Frankel will be saddled up at the racecourse and then brought into the pre-parade ring for a couple of circuits before going out on to the track. Prince Khalid [Abdullah, Frankel’s owner] has also agreed to allow the horses to work in three varieties of his silks in order to help with identification.”
The workout will be shown live on the Racing UK channel while Newmarket have also moved quickly to seize on the interest in the horse by marketing a ‘Brunch with Frankel’ event at the track.
I just love a racetrack hero - don’t we all?
I think he is deserving of all the accolades that he receives. Hope they show it here at some point.
