Franziskus

Tell me what you know about him, his offspring etc…
I don’t know anything about Franziskus and am interested in him. Thanks ;)

Bump, anybody?

I think he is fantastic (just my kinda horse). Very free moving and supple, and bloodlines that combine the best for performance and type - Fidertanz - Alabaster (FIE trained, Bundeschampionate winner in his youth) - Rubinstein (whom we all know).
He was German Foal Champion 4 years ago, and this year his son earned that title.
Enough for me to stay interested in his performance.

He also is my kind of horse. He stands near Munster at Holkenbrink (same stallion station as Rock Forever). He is a really interesting one to watch and I love the foals from him out of a variety of mares.

Franziskus has been doing very well this show season and will go to the Bundeschampionat.

He has over 10 foals in the upcoming Westfalen foal auction - many videos online if you want to see some more foals from this year.

Thanks for the info. :) Do you know if frozen semen is available in the US?

I can’t open any of the videos and if I click on the life number nothing happens? Is it just me? I would really like to see the foals.

hmm - I can get the videos to work no problems now if I am in Firefox as the browser.

Or you can go here:

Thank you. I will have to wait and try on my desktop. You must need flash to view them. I do not have flash on my IPad and did not get the “you need flash” error message. Just said can’t download file. :frowning: :frowning:

What lovely foals he has sired! He is certainly a stallion to keep in mind.

how does that work?
he didn’t show up at this weeks’ 4yr old qualifiers at the westfalenwoche (westf. preselections for bucha), as such, he can’t be nominated for the bucha.

he won 2 o/o 2 4yr old classes in july wich is great, but none of them was a reputable event (competition was not remarkable).

my guess is they leave him at home in order to keep his reputation as a flashy foalmaker (wich his first crop on the ground does prove to be).
with such crop on the ground there’s more to loose than win when going to an event like the bucha.

Fannie Mae - sorry I thought he was getting a “bye”, as some horses did- but the final list is out - and he is not on it.
Regardless I will be there in a few weeks to cheer on my stallion, who was champion at Westfalenwoche, and to see all the other wonderful horses competing!

For the Franziskus fans not watching “Clip My Horse”, Franziskus just scored 8.58 in Verden.

Trot 9.5
Canter 8.5
Walk 7.5

Conformation score I believe was 9.0 General Impression 8.5 and Submission 8.5 for an overall 8.58 score.

This puts him slightly ahead of Quasar de Charry that had a 8.5. But there are more stallions still to show.

Very nice, Thank you :)

He won the 4yos today

Since he is branded Hanoverian he went thru their selections rather than the Westfalen ones last week.

The one that caught my attention was Sunsiro (Sunlight/Velten Third) Would sure like to know more about that one. Elegant with lovely swinging gaits.

That’s awesome! I also have been impressed with the foals from Quasar de Charry. I do prefer the breeding of Franzisus to the breeding of Quasar de Charry. It will be interesting to follow these two as they age. Thanks :)

I saw this one at the breeder’s farm last year. He was a very good mover with good power from behind. I believe he is the half brother to Calaho’s Benicio and my mare Fhlora by Fuerst Heinrich.

Mo, when I saw Velten Third in the pedigree, I thought it might be from the same breeder. What an interesting out cross this one is. Will be fun to watch him develop.

Sorry to diverge from the topic.

you were right and i was wrong

just coming home from verden where he won the 3yr old class in an absolutely stunning manner - having to realize the boy is hannoverian branded, not westfalian…

I have been watching Franziskus as well.

He would be a good match for my mare however i have concerns on his hind end. Wow he is all legs and there is so much action coming out of those back legs…his legs really stretch out behind him-more so than you normally see. Which makes me wonder…is this a candidate for upper level dressage? Will he be able to get those hind legs under himself for piaffe and pirouttes? Its hard to tell from his conformation pic that there is any potential issues with his hind leg set.

Dressage peeps, what do you think? Can anybody else see an issue?
