Fraser Valley Hunt BC Canada

Does any one here hunt with them??

I am primarily a jumper rider but hunting has always fascinated me. Any one here ride with this hunt that would consider teaching a newbie the ropes?? I would love to be able to get involved with this great tradition, but self admittedly I am far to shy to do it on my own.

TIA

I’ve never hunted with them (or anyone, actually ;)) but i have heard really good things about them. Call them up!! And then let us know how it goes.

They have come up to my area twice and both times I was out of town!!! However my parents had a great time. Most everyone in the area was new to going on an actual hunt, so there was more than a fair share of newbie mistakes etc. I think most people had a great time and from what I heard, the only one who didn’t was a regular hunt member who brought too green a horse.

So I’ll second the advice to just call them up - likely they could recommend someone to pair up with who wouldn’t mind giving some advice.

Thanks guys!

I’ve been a member since before they were an accredited Hunt. They are a drag pack. Google Fraser Valley Hunt and make a phone call. Everyone is very welcome. We do a few hunts in Washington State where you would not need a coggins test and could go see them run. They also do a few away hunts up to the Sunshine Coast and interior of B.C. it is not a very formal hunt so normal riding wear is perfectly ok, and sometimes even Western riders come out. I’ve not ridden out with them recenty because my horse would need to be more prepared, but enjoy te social side these days. We get into parts of the country that one would never have the chance to ride in normally so it is quite a privilege.

They are very welcoming indeed and I would say don’t be shy, life’s too short! I’d always wanted to try hunting but didn’t know anyone, but decided I wouldn’t let that stop me. I went out with them last winter not knowing a soul and everyone was incredibly welcoming and friendly and I can’t wait until I can go again.

PM me if you actually do want to show up! They have a very easy group of hilltoppers…or the front runners if you are up to the wild and whacky.
