Wow. Sounds as if you need a complete cleaning of the E.C. house.

THIS.[/QUOTE]Additionally, Canadian team riders found out during pre-Rio training camp in Florida that Clayton had hired team member Colleen Loach as assistant trainer at Fredericks Equestrian International – a blatant conflict of interest considering he was a member of the Olympic selection committee at the time of her recruitment and hiring. quote
funny - I knew nothing, and still likely only know 10% of what really went on, but I thought placing Colleen on the team showed the ability to take a chance on a top level new comer who was having a spectacular year.
I hate to think this fresh air, peaking at the right time, horse and rider choice was not political.
WOW to that bit about Colleen- I had no idea. I’m shocked as well, would’ve though it would be another selected rider who seemed to get on the team by the skin of her teeth…
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Now what’s going on with Selena?

Process of elimination:
Rebecca Howard was the most qualified and a shoo-in (and delivered).
Jessica Phoenix won her appeal
Collen Loach was, rightly or wrongly, going and was in CF’s pocket
That leaves Selena O’Hanlon and Kathryn Robinson. Selena says her horse was not unsound. So…
I think Colleen deserved to be on the team… with and without knowing the facts that she was hired by CF before the Olympics.
She had consistent results and definitely was an asset to the team.
I think Kathryn should’ve been a no-go from day one, considering her issues at Pan Ams when under pressure. But then again, CF was an ignorant ass hat to her right before going out of the start box. So who knows her mind set before heading out.
Either way, CF is gone, buh bye!!
Now to get rid of the President who clearly doesn’t have Canada’s riders best interest at heart. Shit head.
So glad to see him going. What a jerk.
On a side note, all these issues with Equine Canada is just insane.
I definitely think Colleen earned her spot and deserved to be there! I honestly just expected to hear of KR in a position like that after the games, given the way the PTB seemed to be hellbent on getting her on the team.
I’m wondering, what is the process to electing/appointing the EC president? I’m surprised there isn’t dissension in the ranks there, though it may be too quiet to hear. He is not putting EC in a good light, There has to be at least some board members that want him gone.
He is buddies with torchy millar and that seems to be a big deal currently.
Many of the Elite riders in Eventing have written letters to have CF removed, on multiple occasions.
The problem with EC, is its not just eventing. We need all horse people who pay into EC to write letters, not just our Elite Eventing riders. The show jumpers, the dressage riders, the drivers, and endurance riders need to step in and say he needs to be removed. The problem is, are the other disciplines having issues, or is it just eventing?
How much more conflict of interest is it that CF who is besties with Bernard, also has horses that CF rides, but also removes a horse from one of our Canadian riders… I wouldn’t be surprised if CF ended up riding that horse.
Wow, I realize that is just a personal blog but making obvious personal digs at team riders, even if he doesn’t name names, is just trashy.
It reminds me of a teenage girl posting an intentionally vague insult on Facebook.

He has recently been riding horses part-owned by Equestrian Canada president Jorge Bernhard’s wife, Amanda Bernhard. They include FE Bowman, FE Money Made, and FE Vindus.
Exactly. Let’s all take a moment to remember who the Bernhards USED to own horses for.

Thrilled to see Shandiss is being represented by Jessie’s lawyer. I like that guy’s track record…

Cf is or the new prez?
Selena got F’d over the Olympics…I mean, her freakin bags were packed. She was a solid choice…and still we have no explanation.
CF also friends with the ones who are suing Shandiss…I mean this guy was our TEAM coach and he was looking for every which was to F our riders over.
Good riddance!
Lets get someone new in here who doesn’t want to make more money off this opportunity…you know, maybe someone who actually CARES about the team.
Kind of makes me laugh because in the other thread about the sports silence, I remember bitching about CF when he was first appointed and how I thought it was ridiculous he was showing so much and buying/selling to riders…and everyone told me I was basically butt hurt. Hate being right.
I think a lot of us thought there’s no way it could be that bad. Also, I’ve always kind of respected Lucinda and thought there’s no way she would have stayed married to him for that long if he was a complete dirtbag.

Two things. First, birds of a feather flock together, and it seems that EC and CF were a great match.
Second, you can never know what goes on inside a relationship, and when he first came to NA and was vying for the position of our ITA (coach) I wondered what the heck was going on with his wife and small child. It’s one thing to split; it’s another to move an ocean away from your child that is under 10 years old. I read an article about Lucinda Fredericks after the split (maybe in Horse & Hound) and reading between the lines, I don’t think it’s her that has the problem.

I wonder if all the attention for Kathryn Robinson was to justify the expense to fly Clayton over there to coach her. And while he happened to be there, he could visit his kid and shop for horses (on Canada’s dime).

Besides elite riders, canadIan horse people are already dropping away from EC like it has the plague. I want nothing to do with it. Unless my riding dramatically improves, I don’t need to go to EC sanctioned events. And EC has done everything in its power to drive me and people like me away.
The grassroots are going, or gone. I know that the top of the sport is important. But send me your Gofundmes. I’ll give money directly to a competitor that I support. I don’t want to support EC.
And it has been announced that Clayton is trying for the Australian Team for the 2018 WEG.

perhaps on a horse that he managed to get redirected to him, and away from a potential Canadian team member?

Or one co owned by the EC president…
How is that not a conflict of interest!
For some pretty accurate forecasting (from several participants on this thread), see this COTH thread about Clayton Fredericks’ appointment in 2012.
