FreeWest, EnduroX or Wave

Does anyone have these Freeform saddles?

If so how do you like the lack of flap under your leg?

What about stirrup attachment across the saddle?

Just thoughts in general…

I have an EnduroX (though I use the Wave fenders instead of the regular ones). I love it. Enough structure to still feel like a saddle, but flexible enough that my horse is happy too.

I love the lack of the flap, that’s a big part of the reason I chose this model. The lack of bulk under my leg really helps me not have to sit so wide (which is a big deal for me, with a wide horse and a treeless saddle). I used to have a Barefoot Cheyenne and the bulk from the flaps plus the lack of twist was just too much for my poor hips and knee on longer rides.

I haven’t had any problems with the stirrup attachment. Neither has my friend who also has a Freeform and a princess-and-the-pea type of mare.

Thanks!

Does the Enduro Seat still feel ‘normal enough’ that you could do ‘arena work’ in it?

Or would you prefer a classic seat for that?

I do arena work in it quite a bit. I don’t find that the seat interferes with anything I want to do there. The poleys are not huge and don’t get in the way or anything. I don’t do any jumping though, so couldn’t say about that. I have ridden in both types of seats on the trail and I do like the poleys on the enduro seat for steeper downhill situations especially since there are no flaps/knee blocks.

Thanks again!

I ride endurance in the FreeWest model with the Classic seat. I also have a Classic for my other horse. I purchased the FreeWest for my younger horse as she needed the girthing a bit back from where it sits on the Classic. Problem solved. I find the saddle very comfortable for 50’s, multi-days and 100 mile rides. The adjustable stirrup attachment is a big buying feature for me as I hate having the stirrups too far forward for my comfort. Almost all non-adjustable saddles kill my back as my legs are out in front of me.

2 of my friends have tried this saddle out and 1 has already purchased a FreeWest and one is planning on it.

I would also recommend the cutback option as it gives you a better fit with higher withered horses.

My saddle arrived today. I went with the Freewest bottom and EnduroX seat and wave leathers.

Cutback option and panels (for more fitting options)

I

LOVE

IT

I was only able to sit on it on a rack because it was 105 today so no riding but it felt amazing even on the rack!

I can’t WAIT to ride in it.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the EnduroX seat.

How fun! I’ve also looked at the Freeform, though I like to have a knee block, so would go with the standard base. Did you try other options or just order one? Who did you use as a vendor? A whole report will be needed when you get some rides in!

I previously owned a DKR, regular base, no cutback but did not use it often-the horse I purchased it for had soundness issues so never was able to ride often.

My current horse simply had to have the Shortback.

Today I rode in the EnduroX seat and tomorrow will try a classic seat.

I am very torn over the seats. I love them both! Hopefully I will make a choice after tomorrow.

I am purchasing mine from Action Rider Tack. Wouldn’t go anywhere else for a Freeform!

I am wondering if the Freewest base would be good for jumping? Since there is no flap I could jack up my stirrups and not worry about the flap being too straight.

It’s official

Freeform is amazing.

My horse says so.
