Freeze brand on right side of neck on TB?

Has anyone heard of this in the US?
We have a Malibu Moon gelding who has a number freeze branded on his neck and I’d just like to know if this is becoming a common practice here in the US or if maybe he is just one of a kind?

He’s likely a McKee bred horse. They started that when they mixed up two horses.

There’s a OTTB I compete against regularly at events that has one-- he is branded with the number 12. Definitely not common though.

This one has a 25! His breeder is Dr. John Meeks.

If he raced at Charles Town, it was probably in John McKees barn at one time. What is the horses JC name?

My sister’s OTTB has a 45! And yes she was bred by the McKees. We met the #12 horse at a Loch moy TB show last summer!

Malibu Falcon is his name!

My sister adopted Robb That Glitters from CANTER Mid-Atlantic
