We are about to send *Wedderlie Mardi Gras off for quarantine to ship frozen semen internationally. I’ve had a few people ask about what the freight cost is for the vapor shipper. Does anyone have any experience with this? I will (of course) be talking to the clinic soon, but some info sooner would be helpful!

A real cost saver is if it can be shipped with other frozen–so you do not end up with the whole bill.
I am assuming having to ship across the country before you even get to head for europe --if that is where it is going–is going to add to your costs.
You also have to figure in the costs to pack it and get the proper papers in order and papers from the your State’s Vet.
It may also cost to get it out of your foriegn countries’ customs/distribution/arrival center (?) and to the place where it will be stored and held for sale.
(Basically you cannot do a dose by dose shipment as it is just way too expensive)
You definitely want someone to handle the paperwork and arrangements that is experienced. Select Breeders Services on the east coast handles these matters routinely and coordinates w an entity in New York for international shipments.
You also may need lead time and as it can take a while to get the paperwork back from the state veterinary and also to try to find a load going to in teh same direction to reduce the cost.
(Also be aware, if you plan to ship a batch for eventual sale overseas-- you cannot bring it back into the USA once it leaves.)

Thank you. That actually was pretty reasonable. Not sure they take something as “hazardous” as a frozen semen tank? Will have to check on that!
you do know you cant just take it to USPS and ship it off to your foreign destination?
Since the OP is taking her stallion to a quarantine station I do suspect she is aware that it needs to go through propper channels and those channels are going to cost. However she asked about the FREIGHT costs which can be deterimed with the link I provided

Uh, yeah, I think I’m aware that I can’t walk into the post office and ship semen off to foreign lands. That’s kind of why I’m spending a gazillion dollars to have someone ELSE handle that for me! LOL
I did get a chance to chat with the vet today about shipping costs, and I think we are all set.
