Friday Funny

I think I found Sara Stetner or her alter ego. Somehow I stumbled onto this hilarious website. It is a treasure trove of hilarity, I can’t wait to delve into the rest of it. Here is an excerpt:
Why does my horse roll after eating?

A: Horses are herbivores, which means they only eat plants. When a horse eats something that is not plant-based, like hay or food pellets, it will often try to vomit up the food because it does not know how to digest it. This can lead to rolling behavior as the stomach tries to empty itself of the foreign material.

Does this person think that hay is not just tried plant? Or the fact horses can’t vomit and thats why colic is such an issue for them?

Oh boy, I’m just gonna post some of my favorites from the first page I saw. This is hilarious.

“Saddle is a riding saddle that attaches to the horse. The Western style has flat sides and no horn, whereas the English (or American) style has rounded edges and ends in an up-pointing curve.”

Western saddles don’t have a horn huh?

“English saddles are better for horses because they have a more secure seat and are easier to use. Western saddles are typically used on horses that need to be ridden in the saddle, but not necessarily ridden in a show ring.”

“You then use the reins to pull on the bit and cause your horse to lengthen his stride.” (about how to ask for the canter)

" It was developed to allow the rider to sit upright and use both hands on the reins, which enables more control over the horse. However, it has been found that some horses do not like this type of saddle because they feel restricted or uncomfortable with their legs being held back by the stirrups." (about jumping in a western saddle)

“Wade saddle is a type of horse saddle that was designed by the English equestrian, Wade Hampton. It is a flat seat with a high pommel and cantle, and it has been used for centuries in Western riding.”

“If you’re looking for a new hobby and want to learn how to do something interesting, horseback riding might be just the thing. The best part about it is that it’s not expensive or too complicated either.”

My favorite below. And to think I’ve been doing it wrong for all these years. (And yes, it does sound like Sara Stetner).

"### How do you ride a canter?

A: To ride a canter, you need to have your horses gait in a trot. You then use the reins to pull on the bit and cause your horse to lengthen his stride. The horse will then respond by moving into an extended canter."

I keep reading, I find a new favorite. I’ve always ridden English so had no idea you Western riders have to put the girth on over the horse’s head. Unless you guys call a breastplate a “western saddle girth.”

"### How do you fit a western saddle girth?

A: A western saddle girth is a type of horse riding equipment that can be used to tighten the girth strap on a Western saddle. To fit it, you will need to loosen the girth strap and then place the girth over the top of your horses head. You will then need to tighten it by pulling up on the straps on either side of the horses neck.

I don’t know if it would be illegal to copy/paste a picture of “Valegro” from this site, so I won’t. But just to warn you, he apparently has lost most of his muscle tone since his retirement and has mysteriously turned into a chestnut.

Picture can be found by choosing “Lifestyle” and then “What is Valegro Worth.”

Good grief!! I can’t even begin to work that out.

Actually that one is just bad grammar I think. They are trying to say if they eat something that aren’t the dried plants they are supposed to eat like hay. The rest is a mystery!

Off to find out what Valegro is worth…

I have a feeling this rabbit hole may use up my weekend.
:crossed_fingers::pray:PLEASE let this Fount of Knowledge discuss Driving, so I can share to my Club FB page :grimacing:

If you scroll down farther, you can actually see a video with Charlotte and the real Valegro, so it might be worth the visit. I’m wondering if this site stole a bunch of content because some of the links are for youtube videos with knowledgeable riders.

I think the “girth strap” is supposed to be the latigo. They’re saying the latigo is tightened by adjusting the girth. The part about it being on the head/neck seems like some weird mistranslation; just switching those weirds with “back” lets them make a lot more sense.
