Friend is unable to access the BB, HELP!

So I’m posting for her…Below is her problem:

Here is the message I get. Sometimes everything will work just fine until I go to the next page of a thread or if I want to switch forums. Most of the time, I just get this message immediately when I type in any variation of www.chronofhorse.com.

TIA!!! I messaged the Mods a few days ago, but haven’t heard back yet. This poor woman is going through “COTH withdrawal”!

COTH is on a cloud setup now so it must be a problem with the cloud server in her region.

Hmmm. :frowning: Any solutions?? Anyone she can call? This has been going on for over two weeks :sigh:

Well, that was just the most obvious answer and the solution would be out of her hands. Given the two-week long problem, it may be that her DNS information - like an Internet phonebook - is messed up either on her PC or router or at her ISP and it’s re-directing her to the wrong place or perhaps her browser has cached the page and it needs to be cleared. In that case, she’d need to check her router to either switch to an OpenDNS server or set it to a different setting and clear her browser cache. Couldn’t say without actually seeing what’s what. Does she get the error with any other sites?

Good question! I’ll send her your last response, thanks!

I just realized that it may be a browser issue with re-direction as that’s used heavily on the COTH website. Have her try Firefox or Chrome and it might work fine for her.

Okay, will do

The “search for a cure” continues, she says this:

switching from Firefox to Chrome seemed to fix the problem at first, but then it went back the same error 404 not found message. Restarting the router didn’t help at all. Oh well. I guess it’s better for me not to be wasting so much time reading COTH anyway.

Dr. Doolittle, my apologies for not answering your PM – I thought I had, but lost it in the fray! I’m going to forward this thread to the tech folks for input.

Lex, thanks for the suggestions thus far.

Thanks so much!

Thanks, Mod 1!!

Could you please PM your friend’s contact information to me so I can ask her a few questions, and we don’t have to play “whisper down the alley?”

Thanks!
