Front bag recommendation for a Wintec Endurance or similar saddle...

What’s a good bag/s for a saddle like a Wintec/english/endurance with the two rings on either side for attaching? I don’t want bouncing so probably attach at two points is best, I don’t mind buying two bags, one for each side. I don’t have endless money and I’m going to have to order them online so I don’t want to get the wrong thing. They don’t need to be huge, water bottle/camera size is best…

Thanks!

I don’t have a specific style recommendation but while you’re waiting for someone to pipe up you could check out Running Bear Tack’s online catalog. They have several styles and I’ve been very pleased with the quality. Here’s the link: http://www.runningbear.com

I use this one, just an older model:

Has held up through many miles and many wash cycles. Just one zipper broke so far. I think it’s worth the purchase price.
Two velcro straps secure it to the top D-rings and longer straps go underneath the flap so there’s no bounce.

My personal favorite are the Stowaway brand by easycare- lots of models, all designed not to bounce much and easycare has great customer service. One trick I have used on my endurance saddle with a dressage style rigging system is to take the long strap, run in behind the pack rather than lacing it over the front and only attach it to the buckle that lets you tighten it. This will basically make the strap into a long loop. I then clip the strap to the buckle / buckle keeper on my girth and tighten the strap as much as needed. Much easier to attach/detach the pack and it doesn’t bounce around.
out of the stowaway models, I’d avoid the deluxe model - unless you need 2 water bottles and a good amount of storage in front, they will proably be too bulky. I have found for that for a quick ride , easycares “boot bag” has plenty of room for keys, phone, camera, sandwich and a small water bottle and is easy to attach in multiple places( but it would probably work best behind the saddle, not in front )

I love my SnugPax. I have the english pommel bag and one in the back too. The front pommel bag attaches to the D rings, and also has adjustable straps that attach to the billet straps under your flap. You can snug those ones down so the packs don’t bounce at all. Even at a full gallop, my packs don’t move a bit. They are well constructed and the bottom is lined with padded fleece for the horse’s comfort. My pommel bag is the first one on this page:

and the side bags do easily fit reusable 20 oz sport water bottles, or two of the disposable water bottles can fit in each side. I ordered that one instead of the one with water bottle holsters, so I can use the side pouches for other things if I wanted to as well.

Not often, but I have seen them occasionally on ebay for great deals. I set up a search alert for them on ebay, and got a matching cantle bag for $20 in excellent condition…

Excellent! Thanks, folks! More shopping in my future!

I’m also in the Snugpax crowd. I have one of the pommel bags. It attaches to the front D’s and then there’s a loop that goes around the front billet. I can w/t/c with it fully loaded and it doesn’t move an inch. My Arab is very princess and the pea about stuff flopping about on his back and he doesn’t even bat an eye at them.
