Frontline VS Fiproguard

I got another dog. Frontline has been very effective against fleas & “TICKS” My costs are now doubled  and savings are very attractive.

This is the eternal Generic question.

Is there a difference ? In performance? Longevity? or Application (Does it take longer to dry?) What is your experience with Fiproguard for dogs ?

Or is the higher cost of Frontline justified?

Frontline doesn’t work in our area. However, if frontline is working for you, the generic should be just fine.

I’ve not had success with the fibroguard. The Fiproguard Plus is supposed to be comparable to Frontline Plus, but neither is working in my area for fleas.

I would think the active ingredient in both is fipronyl, so the generic should work the same as the name brand.

In my area, they do work exactly the same, which is to say, not at all. :frowning: My ex-vet told me it wasn’t working because I wasn’t buying his name brand product. Piffle. It wasn’t working because my fleas are now immune to fipronyl. Did my vet suggest I give my poor dogs some relief by switching to another product? Why no, he did not. Which is why he is now my ex-vet. And we use Advantage.

We still have some luck with it here, I don’t think the generic lasts as long. I prefer Advantix as well.

I can’t use Advantix, because I have cats. But if the OP doesn’t, I understand that’s the best product for fleas and ticks.

Or save money by buying the largest size of Frontline and splitting it up. That can make it more cost effective. We initially saw the generics not working as well though not sure why. Unsure if that trend continues or not.
