The internet has varying reports on this - understanding that shorter is probably better than longer - is there a hard and fast rule about how long an embryo can be kept frozen? Is there a steep drop off in viability after a certain number of months/years? Embryo is being stored at EMS, so in very capable hands.
If the embryo was appropriately frozen, is kept in liquid nitrogen in a tank that doesn’t leak, spill, or run dry, and there are no freeze/thaw cycles, there’s no degradation over time.
Curious how much this costs annually to keep on ice?
$35/month. The tank will hold multiple embryos from the same mare (I think, you’d have to confirm). I have two from the same mare/same stallion in one tank.
Thanks! Was going to reach out to them for more details but saw your replay and love all the intel.
