Frozen Semen storage for future use

I’m looking for ideas/cost on renting frozen semen storage to ship doses to for future use. How do the fees break down (storing, shipping, how much storage)?
There are a couple stallions I am very interested in, but worried about future availability.
TIA!

My vet is keeping 4 doses for me. They said $10/month, but I haven’t been billed yet for the year (I did just write them a 5k check, so its not like they don’t know who to bill to ) I used my fedex account for the shipping. I get a steep discount and I think it came out to about $110 coming overnight and $40 going back 2nd-day. The use of the container for shipping was included in the cost of the purchase as long is it came back undamaged and by 2-day air. Normal cross country shipping is probably 35-40% higher with no discount.

Have you considered asking the stallion owners/managers if you can purchase and have them keep it for a nominal fee? Otherwise, your options are working with a local vet for a specific agreement or working with someone like SBS who manages the frozen for hundreds of stallions (know idea on costs from them or even if they do private storage).

Alta Genetics in Alberta stores semen at $75 a year. Have no idea what my vet charges for semen storage as I haven’t asked him.

You’re in the upper midwest - you could try a local vet for storage, or you could call one of the big semen/genetics companies in California.

I found this list. No guarantee as to accuracy or how up to date it is, but might give you some numbers to call and if they can’t help you, maybe they know someone who can:

Another great place for semen storage is your local bull semen station. I use Brushy Creek Custom Sires in Taylor, TX and it’s awesome. I’m billed quarterly ($15), they have a zillion shippers, so I can have semen shipped to me or anywhere immediately (and very inexpensively), and they have great record keeping - since frozen semen is their business. They deal in huge volumes and thus are very cost effective and cost efficient.

I know there are several locations in TX - maybe not everywhere in the US, but even when I move to GA in July, I will still keep my frozen semen at this facility.
