Full Seat Breech Comparison?

This topic has likely been around before - but for the life of me, I can’t find it here or in the Dressage forum…

I am shopping on line for full seat breeches. I have never tried on the Romfh (sp?!) brand or the B Vertigo brand.

How do these brands fit? Are they comfortable? As a follow up - what is your favourite-oh-so-comfy winter breech?

Thanks in advance!

Can’t answer regarding the Romfh or B Vertigo, but my favorite, comfy, full seat winter breeches are the Kerrits Sit Tight-n-Warm. I could live in them all winter (and do!).

I’m a dedicated fan of FITS. I really like the segmented patches and find them flattering and comfortable. I wear them every time I ride. For reference, I’m fairly tall (5’11") and around a size 8. I wear the medium All Season style.

Big fan of Romfh’s! I only have 3 pairs, because I’m a broke horse owner, but love them. I have a their higher waist pairs, as I’m more hippy, these are slimming and flattering for girls with more curves.

I’m a true 28, and their 28’s in the Champion full seats are true to my body type.

I bought a pair of their 28’s without trying on, in their Isabella silicone breech, and I could’ve went a size down. As the fabric is more stretchy and I can’t dry them to shrink them. But I wear them as much as I possibly can, soooo comfortable!! It’s like a second skin, but flattering. I want to try their srafina as they a more mid rise breech.

I also wanted to get a pair of B Vertigo’s as my friend has a pair and they look super comfy, but alas, expensive.

I love FITS, too. For Winter, I like the Toasties from Tropical Rider. I get the extended patch. I have one with deerskin and the other with Clarino. Both work well. It is less work to wash the Clarino extended patch.

I have two pair of B Vertigo. I wear 28 in Ariat, Horze, TS, Pipers, and B Vertigo. Long in Ariat and TS, but regular in the other brands. I’m 5’5". The B Vertigo are very flattering and hold up well. I have a pair of jean full seats that I am always getting complimented on. They go on sale at www.horze.com often. Lots of different styles and colors to choose from. I have tried one pair of white full seat ROMFH and I had to go up two sizes. Once one, I didn’t care for them. Thought they were thin.

B Vertigos are lovely but a very slim fit. I joke that I can’t eat a big meal before wearing them…only half kidding.

My daily breeches are Pipers if that’s helpful. A 24 fits me like traditional breeches. The 22 is fitted but because the material is fairly think I tend to feel stuck. My B Vertigo’s in 22 are more fitted than the Pipers but the material moves better so i don’t feel stuck.

I would 100% recommend sizing up one size if you don’t like a super fitted feel but recognize that they will never hang like old school breeches. I think they are flattering and love the mid rise waist. Compared to my Pipers B Vertigo runs long. I’m 5’1 with stub legs so perhaps it is relative.

These are the pair that I have: https://www.horze.com/full-seat-breeches/b-vertigo-kimberley-womens-full-seat-breeches/36416-FG-34.html

I don’t remember which ones they are, but I don’t care for my pair of Romfhs. They’re a really “sturdy” fabric with zero give, so they’re like skin tight and restrictive. I got them for $20 from a Horseloverz.com auction, I’d not buy again.

I am obsessed with the Romfh Sarafinas! I have 4 or 5 pairs and they are pretty much all I ride in, except for the occasional Kerrits tights when it is a zillion degrees here in South Florida. Sarafinas are very stretchy…I go down a size from my normal size. I ride one or two horses a day and sweat like crazy in the heat/humidity, and they have put up with all the abuse very well. They definitely have a “second skin” feel, but I have found them to be flattering. Haven’t tried the high rise Champion or their lower rise Isabella, so can’t speak to those.

I hate tight fitting breeches (or clothes, generally, for that matter). I typically get out of breeches as quickly as I can and change into shorts or jeans when at the barn. Even the lightest weight Kerrits tights bother me. I’ve been searching for everyday breeches that are loose and not overly expensive. My favorite breech is the Ariat Perform L.

I have several Romfh Sarafinas and they are pretty much all I ride in. I do find I have to wear a belt with them. They have a lot of give and are very comfortable. For winter…I can fit long underwear under them. I also have Kerrits winter breeches as they were the only full seat ones I could find. I think they are ugly and I have poked holes in them a bit too easily (just stitched it up though)…but they are WARM and comfortable and in the winter…that is pretty much all I care about!

I think I have these! They run about a size small as well.

I find B Vertigo to be comfortable. I own 3 pairs and they have a flattering fit and comfortable fabric that is pretty good about repelling dirt. They often go on sale.

I don’t own any really expensive breeches, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. But I LOVE the new SmartPak Hadley full seat breeches. The quality is better than Piper for sure. I go a size down for Piper and Hadley.

Hopefully they’ll come out with more colors as they get more popular!

I love Romfh. According to their FB comments, Isabella and Champion have more of a curvy fit, so they aren’t that great for those of us with a straighter body type. If you weren’t blessed with hips and curves the Internationals and Sarafinas are better suited. I size down a size in the Sarafinas, but not the Internationals. The Sarafinas are super stretchy and comfortable, but aren’t thin like tights so they are supportive and help minimize bumps and bulges. Sarafinas are also my favorites for hot days.

I have significant curves…definitely curvy hips and butt. So while I do like the Sarafines, I don’t go down a size and have to wear a belt with them. To fit my hips…they are loose enough in the waist that they fall down without the belt. But I still find them comfortable.

Try the Isabella breeches - I believe they are the same fabric as the Sarafina, but with a smaller waist/hip ratio.

Are any of these FS breeches comparable to FITS (with regard to comfort and grip), but less bulky? I have (and like) 2 pairs of FITS, both are full seats and getting a little age on them, but they do have more bulk then I ideally want.

I LOVE my Kerrits - I prefer stretchy breeches that aren’t a heavy, thick material - so if there were a brand that felt like a “hybrid” between Kerrits and FITS, that would be ideal!

I have a couple of older pair of Tropical riders, too – they are a bit on the pricey side and don’t seem to have a wide range of beige/tan show breeches. Otherwise, I do like the fact that they are a thinner material. I’m a small person on a horse who requires a wide tree saddle, and anything “extra” between me and the horse it’s not a good thing, in my book

i really like my b vertigo breeches. i don’t have any winter ones though. i like my foal and tropical rider winter breeches. i have several fits breeches, they’re too bulky for me.

I bought the Stickyseat fleece breeches after reading recommendations here last year. They are very comfortable, warm, and the seat isn’t skin tight restrictive. I followed the size recommendations from COTH which hit the mark. Wore them riding outdoors last winter down to about -5 Celsius. Can fit long johns underneath for colder temps. Just pulled them out again for a hack today at +5.
