Hi everyone, I haven’t posted here in years, but am hoping to get the word out about a fundraiser I am involved with through Project Comeback, and organization that pairs rescue horses with veterans for mutual healing. (https://www.projectcomeback.org/)
27 feral mustangs have shown up in a kill lot in Oklahoma. They fell through the cracks of a broken government system called the Adoption Incentive Program, designed to incentive people with $1,000 to adopt a wild mustang. Unfortunately some people have taken advantage of this, kept the money for themselves and abandoned the horses at the kill lot.
They don’t have names, just numbers. They were scheduled to ship to slaughter on Wednesday, 1/25/23. We have been working behind the scenes non stop and found a rescue who can save 15. We have set out to rescue as many of the remaining 12 as we can, and 2 feral burrows. 14 lives total. Each animal will cost us $2,000 to save, quarantine, provide vet care, and ship to our new location in SC.
