Though I’d switch my guy from fibergized omega to sentinel sr…it made him a nervous wreck. So Ive come to the conclusion that the alfalfa and corn don’t agree with him.
Have you thought about trying their Sentinel Performance LS? My guy does great on it.
I second the LS.
Your horse could have food allergies. You can test for them.
What else are you feeding, how much and how often??? How old is the horse and what are you doing with him exercise wise?
I’m shocked about what will cause a horse to go bat$hit crazy and what has no effect on others.
My paint draft cross goes nuts on a full portion of Triple Crown Senior. Took him off the TC Senior and put him on hay stretcher and a complete nutrition supplement and he’s mellowed out considerably.
For the record, my retired 22 yo OTTB has been on both and he does much better on the TC Senior. The Sentinel Senior is too low in fat.
Try the LS. I have a barn full of TBs on it and no one is hot on it. Excellent for a hard keeper, too.
I haven’t tried the Sentinel Senior but I’ve tried the LS and it made one of my horses absolutely crazy. I use TC Senior and TC lite for my horses.
I had 1 TB on Blue Seal Hunter (no longer offered AFAIK) for several years. He was sane and easy. I tried it with my current TB and she went from sensible to very spooky. Just like people, they are all different.
I have 2 happy calm OTTBs on the LS 7yr old gelding gets 6qts= 5lbs 2Xs per day the 6yr old mare gets 3qts=2.5lbs 2Xs per day(poorrrrr dear is an easy keeper) plus free choice hay. He is in good weight, she looks like a warm blood. The LS has beet pulp as the 2nd ingredient and the LT has alfalfa as the 2nd ingredient, there is a number you can call to speak with a Blue Seal “nutritional rep” and I have always found them pleasant and helpful and a rep will come out and look at your horse in person…can’t recall if there is a fee or it is free.
I think Im going to keep him on the Fibergized Omega(the feed I was thinking of stopping)…all of the sudden things are clicking…his coat looks great and I see him putting weight on.He’s quite level headed on it as well.He gets all the hay he can eat.High quality timothy, pentosan, salt lick and fibergized three times a day.
