I have bookmarked COTH links. I clicked on link for the forum (Index) and got a blank page. I was able to get here by logging on COTH Facebook page then via following links from COTH FB page, then to the COTH mag, then the forums.
I wasn’t able to get on to COTH for about an hour or so. I was here earlier today, posting but still unable to edit, then suddenly COTH would not load. That happened late last night too. Then, today, I got a message saying COTH had been hacked.
What is going on? COTH was down over Thanksgiving, had problems at Christmas, and now, New Year’s, it is having problems again. Is this going to be an ongoing holiday hack?
And is the edit feature EVER going to be fixed? I am getting to where I am afraid to log on to COTH, if it is this vulnerable to hackers/viruses/whatever, I don’t feel safe coming here on my computer anymore.
And no one is telling us what is going on.
Me too. I could not get on for a hour or so. Kept getting a blank page. Still having trouble with threads going “missing” and showing up at a later date.
Moderator said “they” are working at this.
All we can do, all of us, is wait until “they” get it sorted out.
I was assuming it was down because of the ones working on it shut it down?
Wasn’t able to get on forums here several different times today. Wouldn’t load when it did page was blank. Or I would get database error tryed refreshing page then I got message forum was off line.
I’ve responded with updates in a couple of other threads where users are reporting their issues with the glitches on the site, but it’s understandable not everyone would read through those in their entirety.
The developers had evidently been working on a significant site update for a while when we had the first hacking issue with the redirect to a spam site. To address those issues, they implemented a software update for the current site, but apparently it’s introduced some compatibility issues.
My impression is that because they’re nearing the release of the new site, they aren’t devoting a ton of resources to fixing the glitches on the current one.
Believe me, we appreciate that it’s frustrating and annoying to use a site that isn’t operating the way we’re accustomed. Though I’m sure it’ll have some issues of its own to work through, this latest update should address some long-standing issues we’ve had and wanted to address.
RPM, where did you receive a message that the site had been hacked again?
Thanks,

Thanks to your team, Moderator 1! I’ve been the person working on a small software team and trying to get these kinds of changes out, over the holidays, not over the holidays, etc, and I know the challenges first hand. Hope y’all get some downtime in here somewhere.
