GA Trail Riders

Anyone going to the Trail Challenge in Dublin, GA on June 19th?

Nope. If my truck’s transmission holds out or is replaced by then, I’ll be at either Boundary Waters or McIntosh Reserve with some other COTHers.

My Parellified neighbor might go with her guru. Should be good clean fun. Any info or links on this event?

It will be pretty similar to trail class. Takes a lot of obstacles like you would find at NATRC or ACTHA and novice does 6-8 while open does 12-14. Not an actual trail ride but it is on a beautiful 150 acre farm and there are trails from the property that can be ridden on.

But will they have litters of baby armadillos?

:lol: That would be the ultimate trail challenge. BTW I would have paid to see that “chinese fire drill”

Haha it’s quite possible. They do live on her farm…

The dillo quads are still together, near as I can tell. They are hanging out at the same shady creek crossing and I see them nearly every time I go down that trail. Or the horse sees them, and I hear them. They are not as pink and cute as they were, nor as small. They grow up so fast…

The fire drill resembled whirlpools in the undergrowth, or maybe little dillo shaped speedboats with rooster tails streaming behind them.

Yesterday’s biggest challenge was the pool noodles of death gate obtstacle the neighbor just rigged. Its hard to explain but visualize a subway turnstile made of pool noodles. Hawk was pretty sure it was going to get him but he pushed on through bravely and was given a peppermint.

I have suggested to my neighbor that she stake her dog out on her obstacle course. He’s a witless bulldog that likes to run circles around and under horses with periodic leaps up in their faces to give a big slobbery muzzle kiss. My mare dumped me once when she saw him advancing with intent at about 90mph, but she and the gelding are now both habituated to his rudeness and havent even kicked him. I’ve wanted to, though. He’s too quick to smack with my handy dandy artificial aid.

I just got back from the Region 5 Equine Partnership Trail Competition. I rode Cal in the open division and placed 2nd. Here are some pictures of my open ride.

Great job! When will there be another day like this? I would love to go.
