Game Ready First Gen vs. IceHorse

Hi-
I am a current IceHorse Continuous Cooling System owner and contemplating buying another one or getting a game ready. I really like this system except that I’ve had trouble with replacement pads as I have the original system and IceHorse says their pads for new machine won’t work with old machine. I’ve had to resort to after market pads and they don’t seem to cool as well.

However, the game ready I found may be a first generation GR which scares me as my understanding is that while all of the hoses and wraps are the same the control unit cannot be serviced by GR. Does anyone still have a first gen unit and have you found a way to have it serviced? (Like is there another company that will fix it?)

I’ve had limited involvement with the Game Ready machines (my own fault- I’ve had several around me and never really looked at them) however the one time I did use one I felt like it didn’t get the legs cold. My IceHorse gets the legs COLD- but it was a learning curve for me with how to most effectively use it. Anyone have any thoughts on the cooling capabilities of IceHorse versus GR?

Thank you!

No answer to your question, but I would love to know your method for effectively using the Ice Horse. I have one but have only used it 3 times because it doesn’t seem to get the legs very cold, even when I wet them first. I’m sure it’s operator error!

I have never had any luck with Ice Horse. I can’t get the legs cold enough and the ice packs get to ridged for good contact. I have a 1st gen and a 2nd gen Game Ready and it is true that they do not service or support them, but I was able to source parts from ebay and other friends with defunct systems. For me, I would take the Game Ready over the IceHorse any day. The cooling is much more thorough and consistent.
