Eponacowgirl sorry to hear about your horse:no: and crossing my fingers that this works out for your friend…
The horse went with a shipper- my friend’s classmate’s parents own a “livestock” shipping company- not specific to horses, so they got a great rate, and my friend said the rig was just as classy as the big ones shes seen!
Its the same in our microcosm. Most people trade between barns, maybe 30 miles at most. Probably discuss horse sales at the feedstore. But sometimes trainers (mine) will get horses in from across the country. Makes for new faces at the locla shows.
Hope it works for all involved.
Not meaning to drag things up but how are things going with your friends horse?? Did it all go well???
Did anyone ever realize that the end of the world sort of DID happen after this thread??? All the mods quit! That’s an apocalypse if I’ve ever heard of one.
They’ve just gone incognito!
Again… wondering if the horse sold??? Hoping for a happy update:yes:
Horse is still there- kid is (are you ready for this?) “Pretty sure he’s the one, but they’re just not positive yet.”
However- they did send back Christmas pictures of kid and horse, complete with equine Santa hat, they’ve changed his name, and his feed and his supplement.
If I’m not mistaken, the friend gave them the deadline of the 20th to decide.
They’ve change his name, but they’re not sure yet?
Name is onething, but they changed his FEED and SUPPLEMENT??? Without buying him?? Some nerve.

I hope these people don’t think they’ll get the same deal for all the horses they want to buy in the future.
Update us please with what happens on Thursday, the 20th when the “deadline” comes.
Give you 10-1 there is no decision and they want an extension because they are still not sure and they want to use this free horse a little longer before telling OPs friend to come and get it…and saying they will mail her a check for all the gas and associated transport costs.
Do think changing the name, the feed and the supplements the sending the Santa hat pic to the so far unpaid OWNER 3 states away was a nice touch.
I just gotta read this.
My bet is they make another ‘deposit’ and still hang on until Feb or so. Then lead her on until March-April. Then FL circuit is over and send horse back.
Think that is a dead on target time frame.
Me, too. Hope we’re all wrong, but I doubt we are. :sigh:
The horse left on Nov 30th & they’ve had him for over 2 weeks. Changed his name, feed, routine & took pictures to send holiday cards, but don’t know if he’s the one yet?? I bet they don’t give an answer for another 2 weeks “cause it’s the holidays & we’re busy”.
She’s getting yanked around, but obviously she doesn’t care since she agreed to this in the first place. I just hope the horse is being cared for.
And If they didnt give me and answer by today, I’d be sending a truck overnight to go and get him. Thats rediculous that they changed his feed/suppliments, name etc. I can’t believe your friend gave them that long. I’d give them a week.
Think friend DID just fall off the proverbial turnip truck.
Can’t wait to see what kind of bill(s) she gets stuck with when it comes back.
Any updates? Today was the dead line right?
“Some nerve!” is what I said about changing feed and supplement. Christmas pictures are cute, but, again NOT YOUR HORSE YET! That would be like me borrowing my roommate’s arab for pictures because she’s more photogenic than my TB!
My friend and I are both home for the holidays, and my cell service is spotty, at best, so I’ll have to wait till I head into town later to call my friend and hope that she’s also got a signal. (The sad part is she’s from middle-of-nowhere Illinois and I live in a MAJOR suburb of Chicago- and I’m the one without the signal. Figure THAT out.)
