You know in 4H she MUST have reported OWNING the horse at the BEGINING of the show year, You must claim the horses and register them with your leader. NO exceptions… at least that is how we do it here, and how it has always been.
Dang, after my $8k+ in vet bills the last 3 months (and now the friggin ‘free’ barn kiitty seems to have an eosinophilic (sp?) granuloma disorder…we’ll find out at yet ANOTHER vet visit tomorrow) I’m strapped, but I’m in for $100.
I like the send someone to the barn with a Bill of Sale in hand and take him. I don’t understand (well I do but…) how is it they have not managed to have this horse vetted in 6 weeks of “trial”.

Give me a F****** break…help is help and I don’t give a rats ass if it is for a 502©(3) charity…as we have seen many times, charities don’t always do good things! If it helps a horse in need…I’m in!!!

Ummmm … ‘f-ing’ break or not :rolleyes:, it’s going to be construed as buying/selling a horse and I’d really rather not see this thread shut down or disappeared due to rule breaking.
No, ER, it won’t. It didn’t get shut down when Tiny Tim (God rest him) was purchased, and I think this horse may even be in greater need than TT. God knows bigger idiots are involved. At least TT’s former owner agreed to sell him into better circumstances. :no:
Don’t want to be another spoil sport, but the moderators did shut down another “help this horse” fund raising thread after TT had already been saved (or was on his way to safety) with a warning about “only 501©(3)”
plus, frankly, I doubt if epona’s friend would be sharp enough to take advantage of such an offer. (not that the thought of it happening isn’t awfully appealing.)

Come on after 40 pages of drama you should know by now that it will not be the end of it.
First the horse is going to spook at the pigs at the 4H show or something like that and they will ask if they can take him to the zoo within 2 weeks to check if it’s just a pig phobia or if he is like this with all the animals.
More seriously, something is going to happen at the show (at least that’s the story the trainer will tell the seller) and so they will still be not so so sure if they want him BUT they looooooooooooooooooovvvvvvee him so much.
Then they will do the PPE, and it will take between 3 days and a week and a half for the vet to read the films (the X ray machine is going to break) then the vet will be on calls for emergencies 3 days in a row and will not be able to get back to the buyers.
Then, they will see something suspicious on the X-Rays, but as it’s a little bit blurry, the vet will have to come back to the farm to take 2 more views.
Repeat above paragraph to know the results of the 2 set of X Rays.
But they loooooooooooooooooove the horse so much that they want a 2nd opinion on the XRays. So, they are going to send them to ‘x’ who is a specialist for legs but even more of a specialist than the 1st specialist.
And then, they might make an offer for $3,500 for the horse … or not
So, in short forget the 18th of January, not going to happen.

The market for a good horse is on the rise - spring is near and every youth rider and the parent that lives vicariously through them is ready to SHOP! IF I were the “Seller” I woud say asking price is now a firm price - don’t want him? Fine! Ship him home at your expense there are buyers waiting! After all “T” is now famous!
