Games Trainers Play: The Florida Horse Saga

Just remember, you can lead a horse to water, but even if you shove his head under water, you can’t make him drink.

I can think of a few people in this scenario who SHOULD have their heads held under water!!

If this were really a movie or book, a group of clever COTHers would scheme out a plan to step in and buy the horse for the seller’s original price, maybe even pay a little more than the asking price to really stick it to the bad guys… and as the COTHers and that sweet horse happily celebrate, the scene would cut to eponacowgirl and donkeyman counting their money and toasting the success of their Internet con!

Just kidding, OP and donkeyman… but I do love a good twist.

And, it would still be a happy ending for the horse!

Epona’s friend has agreed to extend the “trail period” until the 18th when the horse is vetted. I reeeellllllly hope she will draw the line this time and not budge. Trial is over on the 18th. The buyers decide on the 18th after the PPE if they want him or not. If so, they wire the money (NOT send a check) by close of business on the 18th. Purchase price should be the originally agreed upon price, regardless of the PPE results. If they decide not to buy him, they call the shipper on the 18th and make arrangements to ship the horse back AT THEIR EXPENSE. And the girl is not allowed to ride the horse anymore.

Epona, wasn’t your friend supposed to send something in writing to these jerks earlier this week? Certified mail? Did she do it?

LOL… I stopped following it (until today) after the first couple of pages all the advice COTHers gave and the friend went ahead and did the deed anyway.

Can’t get into this thread anymore - Can’t deal with stupid people…

Not to derail but I believe Sarah Stetner had a video of how to make a horse drink…

I’m erring on the side of “Of course not, are you freaking kidding me?! Make a STAND?!?!?”

I got it!! OK Cothers…lets take up a collection (because I’m poor and jobless at the moment) and I’ll go buy the horse…can pick him up this weekend!! Don’t know what after that but I’m sure we can think of something.

OK…got it…again…then someone from COTH that would give him a forever home can purchase him and we will donate the money to a deserving rescue!!
Hmmm did any of that make sense to anyone other than me?

(I also have a Sheriff’s uniform)

Wasn’t/isn’t the selling price $20,000? Little pricey for us to ‘chip in and buy together’…

I was so excited to find that all her videos were put on youtube.com. I really felt like i was missing out on all the fun since they took them off expertvillage.

Gosh, I thought it was probably around 10K and dropping!!!

I thought the price was somewhere around $7,500?

You’re the closest.

Per post #145, between $5,000 and $10,000… cash in hand of $2,500 would probably get him now. (I imagine the real estate guy is figuring less than $5,000 by now anyway.)

Hey Epona, do you think your friend would do a free lease if I went and picked the horse up? She’s not getting any money from these people
I’m actually half-serious. My #2 daughter could use another ride and this drama is exhausting!

Give him to Beastie Slave, it would be the bestest home ever!!!

Just lay there and think of England.[/QUOTE]

“Face the wall and think of England” was how it was phrased when I learned about this classic advice in history class. Charming, no?

The best I would be able to do would be to run over between lessons Saturday. Lake Park where the 4H show is held is about 15 minutes from my barn.

Not sure what I could do other than see the girl ride.

I too would be surprised if trainers 1 and 2 are not reading about this.

Oh my goodness gracious. Certainly someone down there has a use for this kind, saint of a horse and can “upgrade” him (to borrow a term from FHOTD) to their home? He looks like he’d be a cute lesson horse at the very least.

Barring that, I allllmost want to see the end of this play out, but only because I’m just terribly curious. This is better than Survivor!

If only it weren’t real… Poor pony, poor seller. Yes, I still feel bad for the seller, even if I wouldn’t have made the same choices - she’s still just a kid.
