Games Trainers Play: The Florida Horse Saga

what trainer or farm name?

Donkey, you have a PM

Uh oh! Donkeyman’s on the case. This should get interesting!

Ditto what equinelaw said!!

Lets head out and round up “T”

Heck I am in Illinois and I am ticked off enough to hook up tonight and head to FLA to pick up said horsey and deliver him to his rightful owner in KY. AND while I am down there kick some inconsiderate A$$.

WHOS WITH ME?? (do your best pirate ARGH!!! here!)

pm me the barn and trainer name too…I know several in those neck of the woods!!

I also know a few barns/trainers in that area as I’m close to that area. PM me the name of barn/trainer and I’ll see what I can do.

Well, it sounds like the owner might finally be waking up to what’s going on. I’m still hoping for a happy ending (that would be one where they wire the money and the horse is doing great)…

Is the trainer/farm listed here?

http://www.floridahorse.com/

OP wrote (back near the beginning) that trainer is with a hunter barn wintering in Florida.

And I think I was wrong about that fact- I believe shes actually located in FL.

The OP should post him as a stolen horse on the floridahorse.com site andsee what happens- as well as on dreamhorse, etc…

FFH and Pony- you have PMs.

I didn’t see anything about any of them listed on floridahorse.com.

Does anyone have any idea what shows are going on the weekend prior to the 15th that they may be attending?

Luckydonkey- I thought about that too… wouldn’t it be fun…

Woodland- swing by Nashville on your way through! We’ll be kickin’ butt and takin’ names… and maybe we can meet some FL COTHers while we’re down there! Oh, and ARRRRRRRGGGHHHHH!!! (I’m not a very good pirate…)

As of last night, my friend has called them four times and not gotten a return call. For being totally land locked over here, things sure do smell fishy…

Not good. Not good at all.

Somebody (either the horse’s real owner or a delegate) needs to go to Florida to whatever barn the horse is supposed to be at and eyeball the real, live horse. That needs to happen today.

Something is very much not right.

Ugh, I’m starting to get a really sick feeling now.

Fingers crossed for this boy.

On the bright side… I’ll bet she is thanking her lucky stars she isn’t in the beach house right now.

Here’s hoping the phrase “A day late and a dollar short” will NOT apply in this situation.

I think the best bet is to get someone local out there ASAP to assess the situation in person on the owner’s behalf. I don’t think the horse is where he is “supposed” to be though. :frowning:

Your friend needs to be a litte bit more ‘proactive’ about the whole thing.

She should have an address for these people on her contract, and she should talk to a lawyer and send them a letter about getting her money ‘NOW’.

She also needs to talk to ‘HER’ trainer who is supposed to be the mom of the trainer in Florida and get to speak to the trainer down in Florida. NOW.

Emails and phone calls are not going to cut it. She needs to have a lawyer, call the police, and to get somebody (or even better herself) to get down there ASAP. It should be her top priority. I don’t care if she is broke, the money to go from KY to FL will be less than the money she will loose if she doesn’t get her horse back.

Agreed. She needs to call the police. Today. She should be done dicking around with this. Unless she’s just okay with -giving- them the horse. Because that’s what it’s turning into.

I’m in the air as to if she should call her trainer (who is supposed to have her interests at heart and clearly doesn’t, and may be in on this and playing the innocent) and warn about calling the authorities, or not. But she needs to call someone, today.

Cholmberg and mademoiselle are right.

Enough. ONE more phone call saying “if I don’t get payment from you within 12 hours I’m calling the police.” And then DO IT. Call the police and report the horse stolen. Report it stolen on netposse. NAME NAMES. Fax “Stolen Horse” fliers to every show manager down there.

Get the seller to sign on here and post the names. It’s not hearsay, it’s fact.
