Gatsby bridles

Just a quick question about Gatsby leather. I seen one on eBay & was just wondering if they are decent leather or total junk. I have an HDR that raised type bridle I went out with a few times last year. But now I’m in the market for a nice flat hunt bridle. Also is Bartville harness leather all American leather? I just am trying to stay away from inferior leather. Thanks in advance for any advice on the matter.

Bartville Leather

Bartville is all American leather (as long as you order from the catalog, I think they do carry some other brands at the store, whose leather I am not sure where it is from) As American as they come !! Trust me, get a Bartville bridle. I am a leather snob and I oogle my Bartville bridle every time I pass it in the tack room.

Bartville’s products are made to work hard. I have a couple of their breastplates and bridles and they have held up for many years of hunting and year round riding. Some folks are off put by the larger, roller buckles on the tack but it makes for easy adjustments and the leather isn’t cut by the metal.

Ok thanks! I’m going to call my order in today!

Just noticed that they only take calls earlier in the morning:-(

I have a Gatbsy flat hunt bridle. I’ve been quite satisfied with the leather, and indeed was surprised at how nice it was for the price. However, if you’re looking for a bridle that will hold up to many years of hunting, I’m sure the Bartville tack is superior.

I have both, the gatbsy flat hunt bridle and the Bartville hunt bridle. The bartville one is much, much nicer and better quality.

Another vote here for Bartville. One caveat… listen to them when they describe their sizing. Their horse size runs smaller than most. I have 2 that typically take cob sized bridles on the largest holes (16hh paint and 16.3hh TB) and they are solidly in the middle of the holes on a Bartville horse sized bridle. Same on their breastplates. They told me to go up to an oversize but my mare fit in a Stubben Cob size so I got horse size… it fits on the largest holes… barely. They make their horse sized tack to fit the average 16hh TB build. They are more than happy to mix and match pieces for free, too.

They make the Nunn Finer rubber reins, too if you like those.

Ordered my little cob mare a Bartville bridle today! I’m soooo excited:-)

I am having a hard time finding them on internet - anyone have a link? Thanks!

They are Amish, no website. You can call them and have a catalog sent to you. They answer the phone first thing in the morning for 30 minutes. After that calls goes to an answering machine.

Luvmyapp, they are Amish so they don’t have electricity, internet nor credit card machines. They do have a catalog that you can ask them to send you. Just call them at their phone number and leave a message to have them send you one. If you want to talk to a real live person, you have to call at 8:45 or 9. I forgot which time.

You can leave a message on their answering machine at anytime (except on Sunday) and they will call you back.

LMS671, just to give you a heads up, the sizing on their bridles runs small. Their cob size is like pony sized. My cob size mare fits into their horse bridle with cob cheeks, so its best to measure your current bridle and send/call them with her measurements and they will put together a bridle that fits. I see alot of people selling cob sized Bartville bridles on ebay because they are too small.

Thanks rocky213! I measured my quarter horse to be sure. I will call Levi & tell him I need a horse size tomorrow (she is 14.2h).

Lumyapp- the address for Bartville Harmess is 1243 Noble Road, Christiana, PA 17509. I sent them $5.00 for the catalog & received one glossy 2013 catalog promptly in my mail box!
