She is fabulous…though we are dealing with foot lameness at the moment. Had a sudden (unexpected and unplanned) farrier change about a year ago. 3 shoe jobs by a temporary and then new farrier totally screwed up her good feet. Now we’ve spent the last several months trying to fix the issues that were caused. We were finally sound and back to work…and she came up foot lame on the other foot this week. Ugh!!! Never had issues with lameness with her until the farrier switches (my longtime farrier got hurt and then decided to cut down his travel, so I was too far).
But…she is the best girl ever!! So smart and easy with just enough spice. I would fill my barn with horses like her…she’s just fun to work with and smart. She does tell you clearly if she doesn’t like something, but she is so very sensible.
It’s funny as I bought her off video (I had bought from the breeder before)…and her video as a 2yo wasn’t the most attractive. But I just had this gut feeling about her. I am SO glad I didn’t listen to others who weren’t so impressed with her 2 yo video, because I would have missed out on a special mare.
I’ll see if I can find some pics at different ages.
Edited to add…she was tougher when she was younger. I remember the first time I went to deworm her I got body slammed into a wall. And the first set of shoes created a major panic for her. But, the more she has done with time and training, the more sensible, sane and level headed she has become. So hang in there @fordtraktor as your baby may grow out of that temperament as he gets a job!
