Gel-eze gelee fish pad

I saw one hanging on a boarders stall door this evening and thought the thing looked awesome. Just curious if anyone here has used one and felt they were worth the price

Oh, and for those who have no idea what I am talking about:

Had one but liked the shimmable half pads better. I do love a Gel eeze leg wrap as a nonslip pad though.

Beval makes a half pad with it. The people I know who use one love it. http://www.beval.com/Products/Geleze-Sheepskin-Half-Pad-w-Gel-Spots/2079001.aspx

Oh I like that!

Do these types of pads reduce shock for the rider too or just the horse? Some days when riding in a more ā€˜equitation’ position, I feel like I could use a nice cushy shock absorber underneath me, and I’m sure my horse wouldn’t mind it either

Why do they call it ā€œfishā€ - it doesn’t look like one. I don’t generally care for gel, its so heavy. Equidae, I find my Thinline contour pad helps my back tremendously, it definitely absorbs shock, I’m undecided how much it really helps the horses, but for me its a necessity if my back is acting up. Other times I don’t bother with it.

I bought one and was less than impressed. They only come in one size so if you have a saddle that’s larger than 17", don’t bother.

The gel is very light but it’s also easily compressed. I didn’t feel it was as effective as, say, a thinline pad.

I ride in an old Beval Devon that is a 16.5. I hadn’t even considered that.

I love gel eze, but that is as a non slip pad. I looked at the new pads a while ago and though the gel eze leg wrap is still a superior (and cheaper) solution.

I thought the pad in the link looked really neat so I went on a Google and ebay search.

I discovered that:
There is a Geleze pad to fit every occasion: in addition to the ā€œfishā€ pad you can get a 1/2 pad with sheepskin, a Gel-eze pad with a front lift and a rear lift, a dressage shaped pad, a contoured pad, a "high tech’ pad, etc.

And most of them come in Med and Large sizes.

HERE is the English sold fish pad, with and without risers. Including shipping the price is about 1/2 to 2/3rd of the US sold pad. (I found that for $109.)

And here is the link to the sheepskin 1/2 pad. It comes in 2 sizes. (I cannot figure out why the hyperlink did not work the second time )

Coming from Bevals, the price is outrageous, but I am sure you can find the same pad in England for a lot less.

EDITED TO ADD:
Here is the ebay version of the above pad for $120. It comes in S.M and L. If you do a search in ebay for ā€œGel-ezeā€ all the options will appear.

Now I cannot decide which one to buy.

Hastilowusa has the pad you linked to for quite a bit cheaper.

havent used them myself but you may like the price!

I have a pad very similar, except it’s a full pad. It’s by HAF and I love it! It has the gel-eze spots like the one above plus non-slip on the bottom. I really like it. Comfy for me and my horse.

I know this is an old thread, but I had a question about this pad- when using it, are you putting the gel eze directly on the back under the pad, or between pad and saddle? I’ve been using the Nunn Finer Ultra non slip pads, and for some reason they split in half. Every.Single.One. I’m on number 4 right now.

I always put the gel pad between the saddle and a regular pad, not directly on the back.

That has happened to me too. Hate those non-slip pads. Thankfully my horse filled out more and my saddle no longer slips.

We have always used them as non slip pads. They work great. We usually cut them in half for 2 no slips. Any time they feel less sticky you can rinse them off and they work great again.

Kmcnam- are you putting it between the saddle and pad or directly on the horse?

Directly on the horse.
