I am.
*13 year old Hanoverian gelding.
*Vet and I discussed the testosterone test. But since I don’t think I could afford the major surgery it could be we decided to just treat for the behavior.
*His behavior is very stallion-ish from April to September.
*Behavior consists of acting like a stallion around mares. Getting all puffed up, getting an erection, bellering his head off.
*Being VERY aggressive with his regular gelding pasture mates. This consists of chasing with bared teeth, making lunges at them with flattened ears and teeth bared. These are horses he lives peacefully with the rest of the year.
*We have found that a combination of Regumate and Depo work the best for him. It turns him back in to a normal gelding.
*We inject 5mL Regumate weekly and give the Depo every three weeks.
This is what works here, for my horse, in our circumstance.

here’s why I ask. I’m grasping at straws here. We have a nice TWH gelding we’ve owned since 12/11. He’s been living in our pasture with our two other geldings for over a year without a single problem. On April 6, we went to Ft. Benning to participate in a Wounded Warriors Horsemanship event. Scout and my horse, Chip, were demo horses for soldiers and their families. Overnight, they were turned out with five other geldings (not an ideal deal, I KNOW, but it’s done). Scout buddied up with one of those horses, and ran Chip off if he tried to come close to him. Apparently, he learned that night that Chip is a big weenie and that he won’t defend himself. Ever since we got but, he’s gotten more serious about chasing Chip and wanting to kick and be a bully. Meanwhile he does NOT do this to my donkey, Chico, or my other horse, Toppy. Unfortunately for Scout, Chip has priority in my family. We are not set up to accommodate separate ‘mini herds’ so Scout needs a home where the other horse(s) will tell him to buzz off- and he’ll be fine. Again- for over a year, they all got along great, he even played some with Chip. And he still gets along GREAT with Toppy and Chico.
This one issue is a BIG issue for us, and how we’re set up. Please: don’t give me fencing input. This is not an option.

I think within 10 days or so we saw a change.
We did play around with using just Regumate, just Depo and found that, for him, the combination of the two was what worked.
Sometime herd dynamics are such a challenge! I feel your pain!!
