Gelpads and Halfpads

Some people have answered your question in a round about way. I think most are uncomfortable saying that a pad they haven’t seen/used etc is a good idea. Multiple people have recommended looking at Acavallo pads because they have used them and know the quality and the happiness of the horse when riding in them. I would back up that recommendation and they make pads similar to what you have linked to above but in my opinion nicer.

The acavallo pad I have has helped my saddle fit a wide variety of horses comfortably and stay put. If I were to order another I would likely look into one that is more than just a gel pad but would stick with that brand because I like it.

@ToTheNines I said I wasn’t replying any more, but I have to reply to you ahaha! No problem for the suggestion, not sure why so many others are against it, its a very nice price as well. Are you “Lisa Jones” on amazon? If not, no problem, just not sure because thats a new review. Either way, lmk how it works out for you!

@adelmo95 Thank you for the response, very kind and professional. I totally understand your point, Acavallo looks gorgeous, but for now, its a bit out of my price range and I will be reading more reviews before purchasing the Kavallerie one. Thank you!

I googled kavallerie and the only hits I got were their website plus Amazon where they vend. It seems they have no tack store distribution. The website shows a small selection of bare bones gel pads which may be knockoffs of a bigger brand or totally innovative: I can’t judge that.

The website does not say what country they are located in or anything much about them.

The pad linked to on Amazon is not on the website.

This could be the next best start up in horse products or a low budget knock off. Can’t tell.

I like more context around companies.

There are really scary no name no certification riding helmets on Amazon Canada shipping direct from manufacturers in China for Instance.

@Scribbler I totally understand your point, although I personally know friends and people who have bought this pad from amazon and gotten amazing results. I am still waiting for a bit more confirmation, but reviews have been stellar.

directpressure, no I’m not the reviewer on Amazon, but I’ll go read the review. I’ll report back too when I use mine. My horse that I got it for is an easy read about his saddle fit! Tried one yesterday that he hated. He was stiff in shoulders and awkward over tiny trot jumps.

So if you know people and friends who’ve had stellar results… why do you need opinions from people here?

Sounds fishy to me.

Also, this is a forum. Not just a review website.

Yes this also makes me wonder why you are bothering to ask strangers for opinions? When I get a strong recommendation IRL or see a product in use that I like, I ask my coach or vet or saddle fitter and I Google. And then I buy it if I am so inclined.

If your friends have the pad clearly you just need to borrow it for a morning and try it out on your horse.

That will tell you far more than we can about a startup product of unknown provenance being sold at budget prices on Amazon.

And this… If it’s been so popular, and every equestrian the OP’s knows are aware of that brand… there really is no reason for this thread.

OP, what is it you want to know that you don’t already?

So I actually have the honeycomb Kavalleri pad and I love it! A friend bought one and I was suspicious of it because I had never heard of the brand but I borrowed it and it was amazing the difference in my pony. It is heavier than I would have expected, but every horse I use it on seems to love it.

@ToTheNines Great! Let me know!

@alibi_18 I am simply looking for opinions.

@Scribbler I am not able to borrow the pad for my friends who have it are in different states and we have talked online, the friends in real life have just seen it and like the looks.

@TBDressage916 Awesome! I have heard that one is great too.

I got mine today. It’s the mesh one without the fluff edges. I like it very very much, and can’t wait to try it. Weather is yucky, so it may be a few days. I like that it is thick just where I need it – in that hollow that some horses have behind the withers. So many pads end up padding the shoulder blades and not that hollow area.

It’s a smaller company that’s trying to break into the market. One of their methods is sending out free product to the teenage social media set (Instagram, Youtube, etc.) to review for them, which is probably why it’s on the OP’s radar. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it crop up along with other small companies like GhoDho and Aztec Diamond.

Since it is distributed through Amazon, you can always order one and then return it if you don’t like it. Amazon is great with returns, just make sure it stays very clean. You can look at the video reviews if you haven’t already, but I’d mostly use them to get a better visual of the pad. Most of the reviewers look too inexperienced to really analyze the function of the saddle pad.

Hi everyone. This is off topic but i cant figure out how to start a new thread. Does anyone have any experience with a lumbo sacral disc tear in their horse. My mare did one when she slipped in pasture. Everyone says short of engagement and performance issues she will be fine. But if she cant get her back up properly in the lumbar area how will she be fine now and jn her older age

@ToTheNines Awesome! Is it too thick or does it seem like a nice amount of padding? Will it fit a 17 in english saddle from the looks of it? Is the gel nice, too much, too little? Sorry for the bombard of questions, just want to know everything!

@Minerva Thank you! Yeah, I understand that as well, @ToTheNines has just bought one, waiting on a more in depth response from them!

@sunnycaro No, I don’t, although to start a new thread, pick a Discussion Forum, health, dressage, missing horses etc… and click +New Topic, it should be in the left corner, right above all the posts.
