Anybody here know what is going on with this guy and what his not-so-distant future plans are? When will he be available for breeding, etc?

I’m itching to breed to him, I can’t wait to hear the details and timing of his intro into the breeding world.
Someone on the H/J forum who apparently knows Gemini well says he seems to have inherited the temperament that got Gem Twist gelded. Not at all a comfortable horse.

What would that be? Quirky, hot, mean, what? I never knew what the first Gem Twist’s problem was. Just about all the top contenders are a bit full of themselves… that’s OK with me, but I don’t want something that plots between feedings to kill me!
Anybody know what size horse GT was, how tall?
Gem Twist always seemed a bit full of himself - He was fun to watch but I remember he had a HUGE buck that he loved to show off in the middle of show rounds…

Sweet mercy I hope not !! Gemini is every bit the rotten monster GT was as a stallion. Which led to the ‘GT the gelding’ situation. Impossible to deal with.
Frank can’t help himself but play with Gemini. But I hope they will stick to breeding and try to reap the rewards/breeding dynasty they missed out on with GT. Amazing opportunity for Chado Farms. I wish them the best of luck.

Of course Gemini is a two year old stallion, so there is SOME excuse. 
On the other hand, she might not know what she’s talking about. Doesn’t claim to have trained with or worked for the Chapots on her website. You never know who will claim acquaintance on the internet with the famous. Second hand information is much less reliable than first.
If he’s been lightly started under saddle and they are still having fun, doesn’t that bode well for him? He’s a full TB, and early starts are the norm there instead of the exception.
A student of mine owned a full brother to Gem Twist. We worked with him for a couple of years.

Curious as to where you got your information regarding Gemini. He is very well mannered and sweet for a two year old stallion. Frank’s dream is to see Laura go to the Olympics and if Gemini is the horse to get her there,then why just waste him on breeding. Maybe you should check with your sources before spreading false information.

Yes, that above poster is very misinformed. I’ve had the privilege of being around this colt since he arrived in NJ and he pretty much just like other colts of his age. He is incredibly well behaved when being worked with and certainly can be quite silly and playful at times, but no more than my gelding who is the same age. He’s quite a character!

I guess I am just a bit more tolerant of boy behavior than some folks as I have owned stallions of all ages for many years. So I’m still very interested in his breeding endeavors. Do you know anything about that?

Well just because YOU don’t agree with riding 2 year olds doesn’t mean it’s wrong. Everyone has their own take on this subject and it’s been beaten to death. The Chapot family knows what they are doing. Plain and simple. They have been doing this for a long time and have had great results. I see nothing wrong with a few days a week of easy, low keys basics. Frank is big on getting the horse out and in the open at an early age. He will have them follow an older horse and go for a mini trail ride. The more stuff they see at a young age, the easier they will be later in life.
Heck, to some people starting a TB at two would be considered old.
It’s not the starting to ride that hurts a young one, it’s the intensity of the work. If the work is light and fun for the horse, it ain’t gonna ruin one.

True story. I don’t start any of my TB’s until they are 2 anymore but they are well able to handle easy riding and some hacks in the fields.

I would hazard a guess to say Gem Twist would not have been “THE GEM TWIST” he was had he not been gelded. So was that a mistake? I understand the desire to clone these great competitors and have access to the genetics, but for God’s sakes, don’t say that gelding the original was a mistake. God knows I would love to be able to clone my old gelding and get a do-over on his start to life. But you can bet he’d be a gelding again, only much sooner than he was the first time!
And I think that Gemini looks great and I hope for nothing but the best for him and his connections!

Kinsella, I think they meant a mistake because of the loss of Oki Doki’s genetics to the breeding world.
